This team sucks until they prove otherwise. Frame it how you like.

Optimistic, despite the scars from following the team for so long

Hamilton really struggled his first 20 games. Huberdeau is a stud. He will return to form and people will love him

Markstrom has had a couple of stinkers that cost points in close games, but has shown flashes of brilliance. He will settle in

Honestly, the defensive breakdowns that have led to several GA and lost games are fixable

The refs haven’t helped, in quite a few games

Lots of season left. But they do need to start turning it around soon. That year Hartley got turfed, they just dug too big of a hole, but settled down and Ramo was actually quite decent until he got hurt. Then the bottom fell out

I just don’t see that happening this time

Finally, look below them in the standings and ask who you think is going to climb above them

I see them making the playoffs

I’m optimistic. Silver linings on either end. It’s a super deep draft to be in the lottery if this team cannot get out of their own heads.

Optimistic that this early season stumble will be a good opportunity for humility. This could really give them a catalyst to become the preseason favourites the league and many of us pegged them as.

I think , all hand on board, this team is deep abut just not playing up to potential.

I’ve already gone on record as a pessimist about this year’s team and its future - particularly focusing on the hefty contracts to Kadri and Huberdeau - the latter not even kicking in til next season. I think the best we’re going to see from thse two will be this season and maybe next. I forsee a chronic deficiency in forwards who can score, but the team being good enough to be outside the draft positions that might get them a high scoring forward. I guess we can pray one of our late round picks turns into a Gaudreau or Hull.

But on the optimist side, I still hold onto a faint hope I’m wrong.

but yes I hope it turns around and these 3 new guys can lead ghe way for at least half the length of their contracts
2 division championships in 4 years. And in those 4 years they have a total of 8 playoff wins, several wildcard teams had more than that in that span

Optimistic. Look at what a powerhouse we were last year in the regular season only to struggle with the Stars and get eliminated by the oilers. Every team goes through slumps, let Sutter and the team figure this out now. Then we get injured players back. There's likely too many worse teams in the division to have this losing streak sink us.

Probably just means we have very little chance to win the division. It’s about fighting for the 2-3 seed in the division or one of the wild cards. Not the worst if we’re playing we’ll come playoff time. Sutter has done well from the 8 seed before.

I think we would do better from a lower seed anyways .. don't seem to do well with high expectations on home ice

don't see any waste of 8 days types of teams in the west since Colorado lost some of its depth .. unless Vegas is for real

Im Optimistic. I've been of the belief since pre season they'd need 25 games figure out what they have. I think there's some meshing pains going on and Sutter pushing all of the buttons to figure it out.

Only real concern is how obviously thing the D corps is outside the top 7. Don't have a lot on the farm other than some warm bodies and 1st year pros.

Before the season started I couldn't shake the '09-'10 vibes I got from the team. Big changes in core pieces, some younger players expected to step up and be key contributors, high praise and expectations from the media. And they're pretty much following the same script this year, strong start, then falling apart at the end of October with a coach to seems to have lost the room (or never had it in Brent's case). Team has zero chemistry with some of the worst goaltending in the league. They'll probably be in the mix for a playoff spot simply due to how bad the pacific is, but even if they make it they'll be an easy out IMO

It's too early for me to lean one way or the other. Another 6-7 weeks, I should have a sense.
