Although in this case part of the quickness was likely due to the Panthers playing a back to back today.

Should be a serious penalty, but NHL should also have to explain why it's more seriouser than Benn

Good player. Bad sportsman. Deserves the 2 games.
Tkachuk, as a Flame, kept doing things that made me wish he would grow the hell up. It's starting to look like he's as grown-up as he'll ever get, and that's just who he is.

He's the same. He just doesn't play for the Flames anymore.

So he misses tonight's game vs the Ducks and Wednesday vs the Canes. He'll return to the lineup Saturday afternoon when Florida hosts Edmonton.

He hasn't been suspended with the Flames since 2017
took 12 games with the Panthers and he had a close call earlier IMO

A big part of Tkachuk's game is to be hated by the other team and draw negative attention from opposing players.
I for one wish we had a player with that ability on this years flames team

We have several agitators - Kadri, Rasmus, Dube, Mangiapane.
Tkachuk's problem was he got in his own head as much as the opposition's. He got the better of Doughty or Kassian in one game and then turned around and got beat by them the next.

He also has a tell, since when does Tkachuk skate away from the net front on his own like that?

or when he "fell" onto Campbell. Most players can avoid the direct fall.

Was just gonna mention Kadri who caused the Blues to absolutely unravel in the playoffs and then scored a hatty while they were chasing him around
Flames still have that type of player and he actually did it when it counted

Yes but not with the flames, we have lots of players that performed well in the playoffs but then came here and didnt ( coleman, toffoli, neal, brouwer, lucic, etc) No guarantee he performs the same way here. In fact the trend suggests the opposite.

Which is why 10 times out of 10 it should be a suspension, because you don't actually know when it's going to risk literally ending someone's career. Two games is nowhere near enough for an intentional act that serves no hockey purpose whatsoever and has a real possibility of life-altering results, regardless of what the actual consequences were.

... You guys are joking, right? Kadri has a long history of hurting his team by getting suspended at the worst possible time in the playoffs. This past season was basically the first time he has ever NOT done that. It's one of the main reasons the Leafs felt they had to move on from him.
I'm not saying he's going to do it again now that he's with the Flames, it may have finally sunk in that he's just hurting his team... But saying "well here's a player with a history of playing on the edge at the right time, and in a way that is productive and not a distraction for his team in the playoffs" is absolutely hilarious when applied to Kadri.

Man, right on for both points. I find a lot here will say anything as fans to cover the Flames or Flames players butts. Kadri took ages to mature and it only happened this past season, so the jury is completely out on him. Tkachuk was a dirty player with the Flames but was never called out by fans as such. He loves the attention and is just a trashy guy. I really wish he was in a more hardnose division where someone would give him a fist, but it looks like he'll continue being dumb there. Florida Man Tkachuk.

There's a very easy rule to make and enforce:
If you use your hockey stick for a non-hockey purpose to injure someone, you get suspended. If it is directed at someone's face/neck, it should be a severe suspension. That should be the standard. It's literally assault with a weapon.
Violent cross-checking, slashing, elbows while in the heat of battle: those are defensible. After the play is over, away from the puck: there is no excuse.

I like your first paragraph and would include skates too and getting kicked.
I would say though that your second paragraph is a list of penalties and possibly suspensions depending upon the wheel of justice. You can just as easily cause life changing damage from a so called hockey play especially with intent.
I just don’t know why the nhlpa doesn’t push the league more to protect all players, not just the Mavi right of way.
