Ads are geared to the target audience. If the game is on TV, the ads are geared to the TV audience, not the in-building crowd.

Sure, but some of the people making the targeting decisions appear to have a screw loose.
For instance, nothing is more puzzling to me than seeing an ad for the program I'm already watching. Yes, I'm obviously in the target audience, but they have already made the sale. What do they think I'm going to do, put two TVs side by side and watch it twice at one time?
‘GO JETS GO’ ads during a Jets game seem like they would fall into that category.
