The alternate title could easily be:

"I really enjoy NHL hockey"

I wish him nothing but the best. It can be pretty daunting as a young player coming in and feeling like he can’t make a mistake. Young players make mistakes, it’s how they learn and get better. Im sure he’ll thrive in Arizona. I was sad to see him go and wish he could have been afforded the same opportunity here. But with Calgary and where we are as a team, it was just a bad fit for him.

(And no moving Lindholm to the wing to make space for him is dumb)
Your's is the nineteenth post in this thread, and not a single one if the previous eighteen before this does not even remotely qualify as "pining" for Valimaki. Not one.

It is a huge exaggeration to suggest than anyone here since Valimaki was moved is grieving his departure.

Sounds like another guy who didn't want to give what it takes to be a winner.

Easy to have fun on a team where nobody actually gives a #### whether you win or lose.

There was some griping when he was passed through waivers that it would be a huge loss. The point remains just because a player does alright on a poor team doesn’t mean they will on a top team. Bad teams still need players to skate and they’ll still get goals and other counting stats and such.

Oh well. Worked out well for everyone. He gets a fresh start and his confidence back.

He was never going to play here with Sutter at the wheel. Especially since he got an extension. Why waste development time on a player that would never see the ice?

So is he in fact doing well for Arizona or did he just give an interview that made it sound like he was?

I don’t watch Arizona, but seems like he’s doing okay. He plays 18 mins a night, including PP time, and he has 2 points in 4 games. This suggest he doesn’t hurt the team by being on the ice.

Hockey-Reference.com has Valimaki 6th on the Coyotes' D in average time on ice.

I know I'd rather be the #6 D on a godawful NHL team than play in the AHL. He just wasn't going to get a roster spot on a good NHL team.

Valimaki wasn't in the top-6, but neither was Mackey. Im still confused as to how Mackey was kept over Valimaki. They're both NHL quality defensemen, but 26 years-old, I find it hard to believe Mackey has more upside. Mackey had the better camp for sure, but that doesn't seem like a good enough rationale to pick him over Valimaki. I find the decision extremely curious.

But good for him. I hope he makes the most of the opportunity.

That's what my beer league teammates enjoy about hockey as well.

Wonder if Johnny’s having as much fun in 3-6 Columbus as Juuso

Mackey was a far better player in the AHL last season and Vali was down right terrible in preseason

2 assists aside I'm not sure I would call him an NHLer yet...6th dman on the worst team in the league sounds like a tweener

Coaches and management actually spend time with the players and see many things fans don't.

I think Brad waived the guy they thought had the lesser chance of getting claimed. I thought Valimaki had a decent chance to squeak through due to his cap hit.

Asked Tourigny about Juuso tonight, he was highly complimentary

I'll get the quote later
