He did not do that in training camp. He was probably one of the bigger disappointments.

yes, we all watched that

don't understand pelletier not putting it together this camp . organization was practically begging for him to just step up and take Backlund's LW spot. most were banking on it

Overthinking it to be honest.

The effort was there, and he was amazing on the PK in the games I watched. Just was gripping his stick a little too tight and really fought the puck.

I still would have loved to see them give him a game here in the last three with Coleman and Backlund. Even just to give him a taste before sending him back down

In that third to last preseason game I would have played:

Huberdeau-Zary-Toffoli
Mangiapane-Kadri-Phillips
Pelletier - Backlund - Coleman

And told them “these are the spots you’re trying to earn with your play on the farm, now go prove you deserve the opportunity if one arises”

Instead with send them with Dube as the only vet on an AHL / ECHL quality roster to road games against NHL squads and say “Why didn’t you stand out”

Im not worried. There will be injuries throughout the season and if Pelletier is lighting it up again he will get a callup.

He's only 21.

Agreed completely. Like you mentioned they probably want Rooney at C but if Backlunds line is going to be given a majority of the shut down starts against the other teams top line, it makes more sense to me to put speed on his wing that can apply that back pressure. I'm also not going to ignore that this can change rather quickly and Sutter is experimenting.

That top 9 looks really good minus the gaping hole on the right side. Hopefully BT can get clever and find a way to address that during the season.
