Hey Kadri! Welcome to the team! Here are a couple plug PTO's to play with you.

This feels like his make or break year, encouraging that he came prepared to put his best foot forward.

I think it's telling that Sutter, at least initially, wants to roll with duos:

Huberdeau-Lindholm
Kadri-Mangiapane
Backlund-Coleman

If so, it's important that the assumed 1st and 3rd line duos get as much time together as possible versus sliding players around the lineup to cover for the injured Mangiapane.

Knee injuries can take a long time to fully recover from. It may be 'recovered' medically, but that doesn't mean there isn't a lack of strength or soreness that is preventing him from skating/moving with complete confidence.

I'm not saying this was the case, but it is likely a huge reason his game was stagnant last season. I agree, if Jusso doesn't look the part this season, it's likely his time with the organization is coming to an end.

Pretty sure Eakins is a placeholder for Mangiapane, and Meloche is for Kylington.

Roster is pretty much set on Day 1. No surprise.

Eakin is a placeholder and Milano is here to provide offence if he can.

Darryl puts guys in roles that play to their strengths.

Oh. Ok.

We kind of knew that. I thought it was funny to see a shiny new toy taking first shifts with rando's.

Steinberg has said numerous times over the summer that Valimaki has been working incredibly hard on his conditioning and I believe came back to North America early.

Seeing what Kylington did last year needs to be motivation that an opportunity still exists if he goes and grabs it. Kylington being out opens the door just like Gio being gone opened the door last year.

If Valimaki can get back on track this blueline is insanely deep and incredibly good

Agreed, I tore my ACL and while I was back skating and playing I wasn’t confident… I can’t imagine trying to play at the level of the NHL without being fully confident in your knee… ACL injuries take 2 years for the graft to fully heal… this summer was 2 years for Valimaki… I wouldn’t be surprised if he came out and shocked some people this year.

re. Toffoli, Tre said he had two summers of injury recovery, plus a short summer after the Cup final run. Toffoli is healthy and had a full summer to train, and "he looks tremendous"

Mangiapane Kadri Milano would be a lot of fun to watch. A ton of speed and skill. With those pairs of Hub Lindholm, Mang Kadri, Backlund Coleman, that gives a ton of flexibility to let some guys shift around

I wouldn't call Milano a rando especially offensively...unless I am mistaken he had more NHL points last season than any of the other options. He is going to be given a shot to produce offense.

Kylington and Vali won't both clear waivers

Interesting how the Mackey-Valimaki pecking order changed from a year ago, based mostly on off season presumably.

Still super early but coming into camp, Mackey looks to be about 10th on the depth chart. He has some ground to make up.

I'm not accredited Flames media. Working on getting Wranglers, but my usual point guy with the Heat is no longer with the organization so it might prove difficult. The Flames are very stingy with their credentials.

he had a dislocated shoulder, so there shouldn't be much impact on his skating

The thing with Juuso is I don't think its a effort off ice, I mean he suffered a injury in the gym training. I think its a confidence thing battling back form injuries and not making the team.

Good to hear Toffoli came in great shape. He looked gassed at the end of the season and playoffs. He has never had great speed, that's my concern with him.

Is there any hint or news about Kylington's personal leave? I know they said it's not substance abuse, so whatever it is I hope he is doing OK. Love that player.
