I think Dube will be one of the more interesting players this year. If he can take a step forward, it'll go a long way with solving our top6 hole, especially at $2.3M. I think 45-55pt's this year isn't out of the question if he's playing top6 minutes consistently.

He's shown that he can do it from time to time, but not over a whole season. He finished the year with 14pts in 20games, but also had a middle stretch of the season where he had 2pts in 20games.

I'm confident in Lindholm and Huberdeau, Backlund and Coleman and Kadri and Mangiapane as 3 duo's who are great in the roles.

Toffoli, Dube and Pelletier are the keys to this team on forward. Anyone of these guys out plays what they did last year and we could have 3 solid lines.

Weegar is still my #1 x-factor as I still believe we could have our Gio replacement. Can't wait to see how he plays

You don't need me to point this out, but ricardodw is not bright enough to figure this out on his own: the likely increase in offense from the blueline with the replacement of Gudbranson with Weegar will dramatically improve transition, which will almost certainly result in better offense-generation for ALL the forwards.

Sweet Christ, some of you guys are just devoted to being miserable about the Flames.

Should you be worried about his age? Absolutely not. The team will either win a cup in the next 2 - 3 seasons or it won't. They'll be in a rebuilding phase after that either way. Enjoy these next few years and let the next GM/Coach worry about the mess.

I like rebuilding! Brad Treliving just did it in less than 6 weeks!

This is just how Flames fans are - the polar opposite of the wildly and blindly optimistic Oiler fans. The Yin and the Yang of AB sports.

yep, Flames sign the #1 free agent for less money than other teams offered

"OMG what have they done! this could be a bad contact in 5 years"

(or more likely at worst a 2.3M buyout with a 125M or so cap)

I would say that Lucic is about $3.5 mil over paid. But you could say he is the only player over paid on the team.

Kadri might be over paid in the future but the cap is supposed to go up big and he could age well so time will tell when that is be a bad deal.

The Flames also have a ton of steal deals. Lindholm, Hanifin, Andersson, Weegar, Huberdeau are all worth more than they make for this year. This easily offsets the $3.5 mil Lucic is over paid.

Even if the cap was only $100 mil that translate into the equivalent of $5.775 mil in an $82.5 mil cap. He will be 38 the entire season of his last season of his contract. It's not impossible that he will be worth that kind of money in 7 years.

Plus like you said buyout or LTIR is always an option near the end of the deal.

Yes.

Insofar as their production is concerned, Yes. Insofar as it being in a "reduced role," no.

I don’t care about his age. If there’s anything fans should be worried about is his play.

this discussion is supposed to be focused on Kadri's age. Now I see all this noice about Weegar, transition games, Lucic.

Focus people focus.

Now, should we be worried about kadri's age. my thought is if he was a piece of fruit then yes, we should be.

Yep. Contract will age bad, but the thing everyone is excited about is that the cap is going up sooner than later. If they win a cup.in the next 3 years though it does not matter. Make it count boys.
