He expects his contract to be done next week.

This is good to hear! Hopefully this ends up happening soon.

Hard to believe Valimaki was drafted 16th and Ruzicka 109th. At this point who would you rather have?

Man depressing when you look at it like that; honestly Ruzi has surpassed Vali in terms of who I’d keep first but that’s always subject to change. Rooting for Valimaki to have a good camp!

I would rather have Valimaki because I still think he has a chance to become an NHL defenseman, and be more valuable than Ruzicka, who's max upside is a 3rd line C.

Valimaki was tracking to be an excellent NHL player until he was derailed by injuries.

I mean, it's close enough to think about it and discuss. CP voted Ruzicka 5th and Valimaki 6th this year. I forgot they came from the same draft.

Hard to believe Sven Baertschi was drafted 13th and Johnny Gaudreau 104th.

Give him a similar deal to what Kylington got last year where he gets a huge raise if he's in the AHL.

I had no idea. Where was Mark Giordano taken?

Well, golly.

The point was comparing Valimaki to Ruzicka, not marveling at how Gaudreau turned out. Where was Theo Fleury taken? Andrew Mangiapane? Both at 166th?

Hard to believe Nail Yakupov was drafted 1st and Mark Giordano wasn't drafted at all.

Or maybe it's just hard to believe that people put that much stock in draft position years after the fact.

Mind you, if Oilers didn't have the 1st overall pick, Yakupov wouldn't have been drafted 1st overall.

Yep. I don't argue with people that Giordano was not drafted. I argue with people because Giordano was a #1 D man. Thats a job in itself. Oh and he wore the C. I wasn't the hugest Giordano fan but you recognize the work. #1.

True enough.

What it boils down to is that the draft isn't an exact science even if you know what you're doing. If you're the Oilers and have no clue, forget about it.
