Default What big move could the Flames answer with?

Please no Kadri! He’ll be looking for too much money and term and he will be severely in decline by the end of his next contract.

I like Kadri at 7 or less. JT Miller is rumored as not wanting to stay in Vancouver and looking to move back to America, so definitely shouldn't do this.

Don't want the Flames offer sheeting Laine.

Klingberg is decent but I think the Flames have a greater need to add up front than to the backend and his cap hit wouldn't leave the space to add an impactful forward.

I'd love if the Flames could acquire a guy like Nylander in a hockey trade, but I'm not sure what that would entail. Can't give up a 1st in the upcoming draft. Don't think something like Mangiapane plus Hanifin would be enough.

I think 25 year old Timo Meier would be a sneaky good pickup/replacement for our top line.
That top line would be very difficult to contain.

Chucky - Lindholm - Meier

Do that and the team would be hooped anyways.

Honest question, who is going to replace Hanifin if they trade him?

St. Louis doesn't automatically mean Tkachuk. I would sign Tkachuk and then trade mangiapane for tarasenko. St. Louis needs to add a bit, but those as main pieces. The blues solve some of their upcoming money issues with a cheaper long term piece, and calgary has a real first line again with Tkachuk lindholm tarasenko.

Nylander doesn't get you hanafin, let alone adding eat bread, let alone it not being enough. Toronto 4th or 5th best player isn't worth a top pairing d. That's crazy.

How about go after Laine and Puljujarvi. Put Lindholm in between them. Could be a Scandinavian line similar to the Finnish world juniors. Instead of Aho you get Lindholm.

Depends how this year goes. By the trade deadline, he may feel differently.

I could support that. The issue is that it's actually really hard to tank, especially when teams (like Chicago) look like they are going to ace the tank better than anyone. The more spread out lottery odds help a little bit if you don't finish last.

Add to that, Sutter would never tank and can get blood from a rock. Even if we sell all our players off, Sutter isn't getting fired for a tank. I could see us selling everything and still finishing in the middle of the league standings. Maybe he would resign though as I don't think he cares to coach through a rebuild at this point in his career.

Keep in mind Dragomir is a Canucks or Oilers fan. One of the two and his entire posting history is drive bys.

He wants to see the Flames suck next year.

Joke would be on him if they got Bedard though haha.

What about a move for Schiefele then sign Klingberg? We’d need to get Monahan off the books and give WPG someone like Hanifin. We would have amazing centres and finally a true #1. Dubois is another option.

Much better option than a retirement contract to someone like Kadri. Plus Laine is going through a little bit of a downturn in his career so his value is down but I can see him exploding to another level if he can fix his skating a bit.

How do you expect to get him? You probably need Tkachuk in the deal.

His constant booger hunting would be enough for me to stop watching hockey.

Hopefully they can aquire Chychrun in another trade. Dumping one of Lucic or Monohan seems necessary at this point.

Hanifin had a great season but I still think he makes far too many mistakes for a top pairing d-man. Only 2 years left on his contract.

Chychrun had an amazing season before this past one. Got off to a slow start inthe first 25 or so games, then exploded back to his previous level before being injured. 3 years left on his contract at 4.6m
