Thinking to organize a mass burning, in a safe space of course, and seeing if organizing a bbq (jersey, then meat) would be a novel idea.

If an Oiler fan suggested this under similar circumstances, what would we be saying?

I think anyone who has a JG jersey should burn it, sure. That way mine will be a collectors piece in 50 years, about the only way I'll be able to afford a decent retirement at this rate.

This might be a really bad time to mention that I have about 6 Gaudreau jerseys that I have no idea what to do with. I feel utterly betrayed by how he handled leaving the flames.

Actually as fans of a team named the Flames we sure don't burn enough crap.

I'll be taping over the Gaudreau name on my jersey with duct tape to send a message, forgetting about him and hoping the Flames embarrass the Blue Jackets all next season.

Why would anyone do this, or even tape over their Johnny jersey? I suspect that the Flames will just change it for you for free, especially if someone takes his number.

I dont know about the burn, but my 8 yr old son asked if he could go out back and throw his Johnny Gaudreau stuffy in the black garbage bin in the alley. He was pretty shattered.

I bought an unlettered jersey during the '04 run, then a couple years later had it crested for Phaneuf when it looked as though he would be the long-term anchor of our D corps. After his time here came to a somewhat ignominious end that one sat in the closet for a long time. After Johnny's snipe to end the Dallas series, in my elation I bought a Gaudreau jersey and matching hat. I have to admit I'm feeling very mixed about wearing it to the dome, and thinking at the least that I might never buy lettered jerseys again. Granted I should have considered flight risk given his contract situation but given all the "I love Calgary" talk I never in my worst nightmares imagined what has unfolded in the last 72 hours.
A few weeks ago I finally bit the bullet and commissioned Josh at Northstar to re-letter my Phaneuf jersey to Kiprusoff with the '04 crest, as that may be the closest we get to cup glory again in my lifetime.
Not going to burn a jersey, but honestly this thread is interesting to me as far as how people feel about Gaudreau jerseys going forward. If it's just going to be a chirp magnet at the dome the damn thing's just not worth the trouble.

I have two Johnny jerseys and I'll still be wearing them regularly like I normally do. Guy left as a UFA, I'm not going to hold it against him. It's his choice. He's still going to be one of my all time favourite Flames player.
Yah, I'm unhappy right now with his decision as a Flames fan, but I'll get over it and move on.

People have to stop taking his decision personally. He wanted a change. He was with the Flames for a decade and I can't recall the last time I stayed on one thing for a decade.
Don't get me wrong, this really sucks for the team going forward, but it isn't JG's job to make sure the franchise is set up. He fulfilled 2 contracts and wanted to try something new. It's sad, but I don't think it was malicious.
Blame management if anything for not being able to connect the dots earlier or burying their heads in the sand.

Mass throwing of JG jerseys on ice when he visits the saddledome would be hilarious.
Imagine hundreds flooding the ice.
Ridiculous, and hilarious at the same time.

Actually that would be awesome. 1st heavy check to Goodrow and all the jerseys come down like teddy bear toss night.
Course he is pretty hard to hit. How about the 1st hard slash to wrist? lol
