Chechelev still has to be signed. That he's in development camp this week is a good sign.
Running with two 21 year olds as your AHL tandem is still pretty risky, hence bringing in a vet.
If Chechelev is signed, I'd expect him to see more AHL time but still based in the ECHL.

They also especially want to have a competitive AHL team because they are in Calgary now.

What about the incoming bodies like Keirns, Nikolaev, Kuznetov, and Poirier? Gotta have room for them?
Phillips is going to be interesting to watch this camp. With Gaudreau gone there may be a spot open for him on the big team.

yet having said all that- that picture includes an inner circle Hall of Famer, two other 1000 game players (one a multiple cup winner) and 2 other guys with 600 game careers...these guys were actually players (many of them) and it was still atrocious

The overreaction to depth and AHL deals signed during free agency day always make me laugh.
Losing Gaudreau yesterday doesn’t mean you still don’t have to go out and make deals like this today.

Froese, Gawdin, Philp, Kirkland, Tuulola, Gravel, Kinnvall, Welinski and Werner all gone from last years Heat roster. Probably missing some.
there is room for Keirns, Nikolaev, Kuznetov, and Poirier plus the guys signed today

So you expected the Heat to play with no goalie at all?

Now that the Heat are in the dome, I think it may be time to transfer my allegiance from the parent club.
