It might not hurt to get me a copy of your resume, so I can get into into our database which becomes searchable.

I am looking for a full stack developer but they are looking for Python, Docker, Kubernetes and strong AWS or Azure experience.

I'm an admin on the YYC Design + Development Slack group. There's always new job postings in there and might be worth joining to share your experience and see if anyone has any offerings that might fit.

The Microsoft Teams org. has three roles open in Vancouver (with 100% WFH meaning you can stay based out of Calgary) that are looking for someone with JavaScript, React, GraphQL, HTML, CSS, and C++ / C# experience.

I filtered by County = Canada, then searched React.

I understand why they used Electron but they shouldn't have used Electron.

We're already moving away from Electron in favour of Edge WebView2. WIP.

Noooo... I'm out of thanks lol.

Folks, this thread has been a saving grace for me during what's been a pretty upsetting day and a half. I really want to say thank you for that.

Like any typical nerd (I suppose), I tend not to do well at formal interviews and hiring processes. I'm kinda dreading these next steps, not gonna lie, but I'll have to get through them in order to move forward. I just have to remember to not crack any dad jokes or ramble on and forget the question.

It seems like CP is a wealth of people with hiring abilities and connections in IT. I guess that makes sense as according to the polls we were all in our 20s when we first joined in 2003

I was really nervous in interviews until I was on the other side, then I realized that the other side is just as stressed out. Now my goal is to make the experience as friendly and relaxed for everyone. In my last interview we spent some time talking about Hearts of Iron 4 and CK3, the position wasn't right for me but, I really enjoyed the experience.

https://www.careerintech.ca/

This is a link where you can sign up and become a member of a community called Careers In Technology and Innovation. It’s filled with people who are looking to leverage their skills into new careers in tech in Calgary. You’d get access to their Slack channel, invitations to networking events both virtual and in-person), their resources for job searching, and can talk to advisors who have made successful pivots into the tech industry.

I’m a member myself but I haven’t used it in a long time. Seems like a solid place to network from what I’ve seen though, it’s pretty active. A lot of the members are non-tech professionals who are looking to pivot into tech, but I think they would love the fact you have experience.

If you can do some practice interviews before hand, if you have an old boss or someone from HR you can 'borrow' for 30 minutes or maybe from your school, I usually tell my foster kids to apply for a few crappy jobs they know they dont want first just to get into the practise but that's not usually possible once you get into a selective field, the questions tend to be fairly similar for interviews, its good to have a few go to answers that you are used to delivering comfortably, 'what can you bring to our team?' 'what do you consider your best strength and weakness?' etc etc

I just sent FanIn80 a PM about this, but I think it's good to post here for people reading this thread later.

The library has a great program where you can talk one-on-one with a career coach for free. The coach improved my resume quite a bit. https://calgarylibrary.ca/library-ne...or-job-search/
