Well if you don’t get bedard you could likely get mitchkov which isn’t a bad outcome either. 2023 I heard is deep

They can keep them if it works out and they have space or just move on.
Except Toews and Kane will pick their destinations with their full NMCs, like Iginla, and may just decide to just wait it out.

I want a playoff team, but I want one of these franchise cornerstones even more.

Looks like Bowman left the Blackhawks.

Mitchkov has generational potential in my view, however, there is risk given his contract status in Russia and the political landscape. He may not come over for a few years.
Adam Fantilli though could also be a player at #2.

If the worse you can get is Michkov, you go for it. Even getting one of Fantilli or Benson would be sweet, especially if the draft is deep with talent. I'm hoping the Flames get in on that action if Gaudreau doesn't sign.

Fantili is a perfectly valid #2. But if Michkov plays out his KHL contract he's available for 2027/28?

Always great hearing from you foss. Sorry about the state of your Hawks but I’m sure things will eventually get better in time. They were a great team, won multiple cups last decade and then declined. It happens to the best of them.

Thanks, Ninja...But, these moves were inevitable, especially given the turnover at GM, and front office.

My guys just had a dearth of talent at D and Goaltending, and the assets we had were at forward. Getting nothing for Strome and Kubalik was poor management by the prior regime. It all boiled down to the dice roll of going for Jones and Fleury being massive strategic errors. Time has caught up to Toews, and Kane is the last piece with high value. DeBrincat, on his own, would have not been wise to keep, given that they wanted draft picks for this year's 1st round, getting some picks was a logical start.

BTW...the 'Hawks bought out Borgstrom and Connolly.
