This is what I like to see, teams still making moves after winning.

They had to, they have no money for Kuemper (or Kadri or Burakovksy).

So you’re telling me the Avs got a potential #1 goalie for 2 3rd’s and a 5th yet we had to pay a 2nd, a 3rd, and a 7th for some completely junk bottom 6 player in Jarnkrok who’s gone in free agency? Lmaoooo

Georgiev is a potential #1 like Vladar is a potential #1.

The Flames signed Rittich for free and he had the potential of being a number one.

Really smart move IMO. There are very few goalies that give you total confidence, and Kuemper definitely isn't one. Save the $$ and keep Nichushkin+ (Manson?)
If COL lacks confidence mid-season they can always try to bolster with a Varlamov or Talbot or Quick or Ullmark (NMC that turns into 16 team NTC next year - and why wouldn't he waive to go to COL?) or etc

Lol, lets pump the brakes on that one. Georgiev hasn't even shown that's a consistent solid backup yet, let alone a potential #1 goalie.

Watch this guy pull a Kipper and kill it for a few years , cups etc.
Remember Kipper was a 3rd stringer before Sutter robbed the Josers.

Avs doing what the Hawks did after winning the Cup - smart move. Why pay a goalie who wants more after winning a Cup when they know they can practically win with any goalie they put in? Save the money for better signings to bolster the team.

Georgiev fell off a cliff stats wise as the season progressed. Risky move, IMO.
But helps approximate what Vladar might return.

Kuemper is significantly better than Georgiev — he wasn't great in the playoffs but he was also playing with one eye.
Don't know how this one will play out for Colorado. Sakic taking a risk, for sure.

Price seems pretty low. Good move for the Avs.

Yeah Kuemper wasn’t a stud in the playoffs, but people are forgetting that he has been one of the best goalies in the league for the past 3 seasons.

Avs got better. No doubt.
Beating them in the Conf Final next year just got a little harder for our protagonists.

In a way I find it ironic that the guy who won 3 cups with 3 different guys in net (Yzerman) drafted a guy in round 1 and positioned the team to pay him to be a foundation piece in Vasilevskiy. The guy who won two with the same high paid high profile HHOF'er in Sakic is building a team to look for value at the position and change it up. Essentially Sakic us trying to win with Osgoods, and the teams Yzerman built won with Roy.

Luck has had tonnes to do with it. If not for Ottawa's incompetence, they do not acquire Bo Byram. If not for the uncertainty of the draft, they do not get the best defenseman since Bobby Orr at #4 in 2017, or a perennial 90-point power forward in 2015. If not for Kadri's efforts to block a trade, they do not get their #2 centre.
