aside from the first game of BOA, all of the other playoff games this round are pretty much what you expect in a playoff game with under 6 goals... (colorado's game yesterday had 3 EN)

Who is refereeing the game does make a big difference....
Do we know who is reffing tonight? Same combo?

…Gord Dwyer is calling the game tonight?

Yep, we’re boned.

No it wasn’t. I’m just raging at everything since that game ended because it was winnable and we pissed it away to some degree, with a huge helping hand from the refs.

Yup, this is me. I was telling my wife that if the Flames had lost due to being outplayed at 5v5 in a game against the Oilers, I'd have been "dammit, but w/e."

Game 2 was not entertaining, especially not how I expect the playoffs to entertain.

I'm just hoping the Flames play their game. I'll accept the results win or lose as long as they play like we all know they can. They haven't come close this series to what they can play to and I really want to see that.

Are there stats about how referee calls specific teams?

You ain’t solving him. He’s having a historic playoff in the cap era.

If you limit him to 2pts per game, Flames easily win if they play their own game. Easier said than done, of course.

If he’s at 3-4 pts per game Flames likely lose in 6 or 7. He’s that good and the Oilers are that terrible. It’s an amazing juxtaposition.

But for the first BOA in 31 years I thought I would be more emotionally invested 24 hours a day.

Maybe tonight we'll see a lot more 5-on-5 play with some big hits and great plays by both teams (well, one more than the other) to get me into this series more.

Just want to see the Flames play well tonight. They've had 2 games now that were far from their best. Just win.

btw, great job as usual Cheese

Calgary Dallas game 7 was the biggest Flames game in the last 18 years or so. Did you feel blah about that one?

BoA -- Hard to live up to the hype expectations. Both teams/Fanbases are just getting warmed up.

I agree with that too.

Calgary has to be able to hold onto a 2 goal lead.

i think the post Toffoli goal, like everyone else, was a turning point... never did see what Tkachuk did, but clearly Nurse (I believe) should have got the extra.

of course Calgary would respond to Toffoli getting a stick rubbed in his face - but its up to the ref to figure out in his head who was provoking that situation...penalizing the guy only coming to help his team mate or rewarding a clown move meant to draw a penalty.

that's poor game management imo...as it rewards that kind of move

I’ve been invited to the toilet bowl in club seats tonight. I’m a pretty focused spectator and don’t really like to watch games with anyone. I’ve been to flames games in greaserville many times. I’ll be sitting with business partners all cheering for oilers. I’m 6’4 but not a fighter. I’ve got a Scottish temper with red mist descending when it gets going. Going to wear contact lenses as I see better and without my glasses I can’t see.

Here’s my question.

Do I wear my cowboy flames red or my 2004 flames red?

Saw a guy with a 2001 era sperm cog Oilers jersey with McDavid on it, just a confused individual

Focus on playing their game or lose. Its that simple. First period will tell us how the game goes. And if Markstrom can’t up his game then maybe give him a game off and let Vladar have a game.

If Markstrom can’t play at an NHL level tonight the Oilers win again. Hoping for some miracle that Markstrom can find any semblance of decent play tonight. With McDavid shredding the defense at will, Flames will only go so far as Markstrom can take them.

Very concerned as well that Kylington will be abused, humiliated and exposed with Edmonton getting last change tonight. Could be a disaster.

I’m picking the Flames in this one, I think it’s a critical game in the series otherwise the next one will be must win. I think the Flames will also regroup and tighten things up a bit and play a more structured game like what we’ve seen this season.

Go Flames.
