Lol... Not intentional. How delusional can you be? Normal people do not move like that unintentionally unless they suffer from some kind of neurological disorder.

I think that most Oilers fans are more rational and understood that it was a headbutt. Just a stupid play from a stupid player who has made a career out of stupid plays. Completely unnecessary and dangerous.

I assume you are right. yet the supposed impartial panel last night, not only didn't report on it after it happened but when ultimately coming around to it a period later couldn't even bring themselves collectively (and I'm not even sure if any of them did individually) to acknowledge it was intentional

I honestly don't understand any version that looks at that entire sequence (frustrated team goonery a few minutes earlier, a slash seconds before and then that launching head missile) and can come up with a conclusion that whatever else that was or wasn't that it wasn't intentional

The fact that Nurse was suspended, really puts egg on the face of the panel with how they tried to dismiss it. They are supposed to be knowledgeable and react and comment on the game.

League has clearly considered the significance of game 6 and his role on that team in this light punishment.

Sets a precedent that important players get less punishment because their absence is more significant.
Not a fair way to issue justice.

Bottom line, if the Oilers lose, then the punishment was enough. If they win and force a game 7 then it wasn't enough.

Granted, I wasn't listening too hard to the panel. I almost never watch the talking heads anymore, especially McLean. I used to stand up for McLean when Cherry would constantly be belligerent to him, but now I wish Cherry would come back to yell at him some more.

My takeaway from it was that their evasiveness was pretty telling. Elliott's whole "I don't want to say anything bad about it because I don't want to create a bias" pretty much tells you what he was honestly thinking without really saying it. Then McLean cutting everyone off at the end and changing the subject was also telling. If he thought it was a nothing incident, he would have said so. He knew it was bad and just didn't want to give it attention for that reason.

Imagine the uproar if Doughty was in this series and he did that exact same thing to McDavid. It would be the biggest topic in the league today. And a 1 game suspension for Doughty intentionally trying to concuss McDavid would be me met with so much outrage from the media’s desire, of course, from oilers fans.

They would be talking about rule changes and 20+ game suspensions for it. That’s why a one game suspension seems low… because it was done to Danault instead of the golden boy shouldn’t change the level suspension.

At least they waited until he took the long road to LA.

That really seems like Nurse tried to hit him and was a victim of being bigger.

Don’t think he meant to hit him with his head.

Lyle Odelein back in the day. Now that was a headbut.

you forgot the green text, nobody tries to hit like that

Also, Phillip Danault is 6 foot 1 not Theo Fleury

He is trying to hit him alright, with his head...nothing else would even contact him no matter the heights involved

Not sure why they can't keep things simple by having a spreadsheet listing infraction ---> punishment and just follow it to a "T". Would simplify their job and there would be no ground for appeals, etc... Needlessly complicated imo

I don't understand how anyone could look at that and not see it as intentional...

Anyway 1 game is more than I thought he'd get. I take it nothing for Kane's elbow to the head?

You wont find many that would justify Nurse's headbutt but are instead still fretting over that $74 million dollar contract extension

I cannot fathom the mental gymnastics required to try and convince people that that was unintentional.

Like...Which part? The 'squaring up?' The crouching for power from the legs? The upward motion into another dude's head?
