Florida SWEEP. I'll be rocking my red CCM Bure for this one. #### Tom Wilson, and #### that Putin-worshipping cherry picker.

Panthers in four. Washington doesn't have an answer for Florida's insane offence.

Sam's hit on Coleman was predatory and dirty af
He certainly doesn't have a reputation like Wilson though.

Decided I'm cheering for the Caps.
It's funny when you get a Pens-Caps playoff series.

^Boo this man.
Reasonably competitive so far and quite physical.

Washington finally taking advantage of their chances, they deserved to win this. Florida just got outplayed. Weegar is pretty bad, shouldn't be near top pairing.

Weegar isn't normally that bad. He just got introduced to playoff hockey is all.
I hope there are a lot of lessons learned from this game. Not enough urgency or plays in the middle of the ice. Pretty easy to defend most of the night for Washington.
Again, a healthy Ekblad makes this series look very different, not unlike last year.
But there really needed to be a reality check for this team that coasted to the President's Trophy. Hopefully they felt it tonight and will come out hungrier next game.

Disagree about Weegar, he's been pretty bad for months now. Turns over the puck way too much.
But either way, Washington fairly easily shut down the Panthers. I thought this series would go 6-7 games and it looks like it.

So, let's update the thread. Shall we? Series tied at 1. Panthers looked a lot more like their regular season selves in the second half of this game. If they continue to play like that, it should be a short series.

Washington is playing 1-3-1 the whole time and doing it well, IMO they've been overall the better team in this series. But their goaltending is probably going to sink them. Also missing Wilson hurts and Ovy isn't 100% either. But it's kind of funny / surprising to see them play the trap considering they're a highly skilled team, goes to show how much they respect Florida's offense.

Looking pretty bleak for the Panthers. Washington doesn't have the same skill but is playing much smarter, clogging up the neutral zone. The high flying, comeback at will -offense of the Panthers is nowhere to be found, not surprisingly since it's the playoffs. And with a rookie HC Brunette at the helm not sure he's the right man for the job to make adjustments.

I thought this would be a relatively easy series for the Panthers. Now it looks like they're totally unfit for the playoff style of game and are getting worked by a team that is far less talented.

Having predicted a Washington series win I’m not completely surprised by the results so far, but the Panthers have so many individual potential game breakers I still think they are very much in this series and can still win. Pretty entertaining series all in all.

You are riding the roller coaster. Writing them off after game 1, after game 2 you’re predicting a 5 game series victory and now back to the pit of despair.
Good luck rest of the way.

I figured all Eastern conference series’ we’re too close to call.
8 high end teams with not too much between them.

Not surprised at the results so far, Florida never had any real adversity during the regular season (aside from Quenville leaving) and they coasted to the president's trophy. Washington was battling in the wildcard muck all year though, and is stacked full of guys who know what it takes to win in the playoffs. Not sure why anyone would think they'd just flip a switch this year after being schooled the same way by Tampa last year

Holy fact-checker alert. I don't think any of your statements are true.
It's easy to say you're "not surprised" and make up a narrative after you've seen the results. It should absolutely be surprising when the #1 overall team is down to a middling 8th seed.
What does regular season adversity have anything to do with playoff wins?
Quenville didn't 'leave' -- he was canned.
What does coasting even mean? They won something crazy like 15 in a row after the trade deadline, while piling on goals -- hardly coasting.
Lol at saying Washington was battling in the wildcard -- halfway through the season, the top 8 in the East had separated from the bottom 8.
Teams with playoff experience get bounced all the time; teams with no playoff experience make runs all the time.
Florida was hardly 'schooled' last year by Tampa. A couple close losses, but as we all know that Tampa team was thicc.

Just look at their schedule in the last 2 months of the season, 21 of their final 29 games were against non-playoff teams. They were absolutely coasting, I doubt players on either side were putting in that much of an effort playing so many bottom feeders. The caps however played 15 games against playoff teams in the last 2 months and were fighting for a better seed, they've been in playoff mode a lot longer than the Panthers have
Plus Bobrovsky always chokes in the big games
