Voted for Nashville with Saros out, but a big part of me wants the Flames to get revenge on Dallas for the bubble.

Based on last night's game? Nashville, because that was fun to watch.

Honestly? I don't care. I'm happy to avoid Edmonton though. I hate Edmonton so much, that even if the Flames were to win a game 5-2. I'd be super mad that the Oilers got 2 goals, or that it was tied for more than 10 seconds from first puck drop, or anything that gives Edmonton any reason to have moments to cheer for. I just hate Edmonton.

Dallas. If Soros is healthy, a hot goalie can stonewall an elite team.

Exhibit A: Vanbisbrouck 1996
Exhibit B: Price 2021

I don't think I want some young goalie coming in and playing with nothing to lose like Binnington a few years ago.

Dallas it is.

I wouldn't call Rittich young. I suppose he could get hot but I wouldn't bet on it.

I think he’s talking about the Preds third stringer, Connor Ingram.

I doubt he's even an option as starter.

Which ever series we can get out of with minimal injury. I feel like Nashville would be more of a war. Fun to watch but we have to think long game here so I went with Dallas.

I went with Nashville because of entertainment value but on second thought I probably should have picked Dallas for this reason. I think we beat either though.

I feel like the team would be less beat up if we played Dallas and won the series, vs winning a series against Nashville.
Dallas has a lot of good players with playoff experience though. Tough choice, and it's going to be a tough series, whoever we play.

I tend to think that as well but the last two times the Flames have made the Stanley Cup finals they had to endure a gruelling 7 game 1st round series against the Canucks. Really though the less games you play the less chance of injury and wear and tear.

What I will say is a fun path that I call the retribution tour would be:

Dallas
Edmonton
Colorado
Tampa

I'd preferred

Nashville -- It's gonna be fun because we are in their heads

LA -- They fired Darryl and Darryl's team knock them out, justice!

Colorado -- They knocked out last time, it's revenge time!

Tampa -- They cheated the last time, we beat them fair and square this time!

If Saros draws back in for game 1 there's no way the guy will be fully healthy.

The Flames are clearly better than either Dallas or Nashville. But the better team can always lose to a hot goalie.

So what worries me most is Saros. But if Saros isn’t healthy then I’d rather play Nashville, because without him that team isn’t scary at all. I’m torn…

Nashville in a bit of a careful what we wish for situation. If nothing else, Nashville comes to play physically. They lead the league in hits/game and it's actually on the road they are credited with more hits (31 hits per 60). Flames are second in the west with 26 per 60 on the road.

In a not-at-all-surprising statistic, the Flames trying to match Nashville physically and set the stage for the playoffs resulted in two of their highest hitting games coming against Nashville this thelast week. (43 against Tampa in early January, 38 against Vancouver in February, and 41 and 36 against Nashville these last two times they met).

I hope, should they play against each other, that each game is exciting but the Flames take it down quickly.

I think playing Nashville will get the team battle ready, after wining a hard hitting, hard fought series, the team will be ready for anyone! Look at the 89 Flames, the underdog Canucks scared the poo out of the team, they almost got knocked out, but from then on, they are on cruise control. The 04 Flames, same thing, they got the poo scared out of them by the Canucks, won that series in OT and from then on, they know what to expect and got to the SC final. So, this time around, when they have to fight tooth and nail to get out of the first round, that will prepared them.
