Clinch is now official -- it doesn't really count if it requires an Oilers win to do it.

LA can't catch the Flames now either, so it's a guarantee of home ice in the first round too.

A record of 3-4-0 in the final 7 games would clinch 1st in the Pacific, even if the Oilers were to win their final 6 games.

This should be an interesting playoffs. For the first time in many years I have a new sense of confidence in this team and what they could do in the Playoffs. For me it's starts with coach Sutter and the way he has this team playing and ends with our goaltending. Could be a long playoff run.

We’re one point up on St. Louis. I know, I know, I’m getting ahead of myself, but it’d be nice to stay ahead of them on the of chance we meet them in the conference finals.

They block Center ice in the UK? That seems ridiculous

There's little doubt that the Calgary Flames shall win the Stanley Cup.

I hope beyond winning down the stretch they also start bringing the pain to their opponents.

Flames have a big tough team. Start using it.

Dallas is now in WC1 and would be the Flames first opponent.

Not declaring anything but I like that match up I think. Dallas isn't a high scoring team which helps. I think our offense could outmatch theirs. And the goaltending isn't quite what it was.

In the final 7 games, the Flames play Nashville twice and Dallas once, so this should be an interesting couple of weeks.

Dallas has the easier schedule between them, with only 2 of 7 remaining against playoff teams. Nashville has 5 of 6 against playoff teams.

Playing against Big Save Dave, I can see Tkachuk working him up.

Wouldn't we still get home ice as the number 2 seed?

How is home-ice advantage determined?

With each series consisting of seven games, that means one team will host four contests and the other will host three – this is called home-ice advantage.

In the first two rounds of the NHL playoffs, home-ice advantage is determined by seeding – the team with the higher seed gets it.

When the playoffs reach the Conference Finals, home-ice advantage is then determined by regular-season record, regardless of seeding.

It’s still something when it’s finally confirmed. Good team with a good coach as well as overall coaching staff with Muller, Huska and Maclean.

Playoffs baby!
