I think it was more the case of the Shark's player looking at Tkachuk's elbow and his face went for it!

I watched the video. That screenshot only captures a millisecond of the overall play. He throws his arm back.
I'm not necessarily saying it was an intentional elbow; it could start to be interpreted that way by player safety though.

He throws his entire body back, not his arm separately

Could's and Would's aside player safety obviously has no problem with the play and neither did the on ice officials

Clean nothing play. What is the debate here? Tkachuk has the puck, opposition is coming to check him, so Tkachuk is proactive and makes him think twice before he ever finishes another check on Tkachuk again. Clean play. Smart play.

The best part of this thread is the Seider hit. Everything else makes me realize why the world is going to poo.

Perfectly legal, and I've always enjoyed when Chucky dished them out. Really, how is it different than a normal body check?

The best part about these hits is that he's using his back to hit players in the front. Could just take a dive into the boards to draw a penalty...now that would be slimy.

I'll only start to worry when he tries to do this between the legs somehow.
