Also when I'm posting 100 times in a row in this thread, remember last year when Sportsnet would play commercials constantly for Kes' House online show. Do you think that show cracked 100 viewers?

Basically Vegas takes on paying what's left of Keslers 6.85 salary that's on IR this year plus all of what is owed to Moore which is 2.75. So they have the rest season balance of 9.6 million dollars in money to pay out. So thats about 2.3 in salary to pay out. Anaheim only owes Dadonov about 1.2 for the rest of this year. So Anaheim takes the cap hit of 3.375 by transferring the buried portion of Moore to Vegas and taking back Dadonov, but saves 1 million in cash for the rest of the season.
Next year Dadonov's salary jumps to 6.5 million even though his cap hit is 5, but Anaheim should have lots of room for his cap, and likely look to trade him as a UFA.

I know most of you won’t want to hear this, but I’d prefer Edmonton in the third spot in our division than a 100+ million Vegas healthy roster. Let them take he wild card to face Colorado and have to go through the central division.

I don't want Edmonton to make it into the playoffs. But I think them making it in over Vegas and getting their ass kicked by LA, while Vegas and their 100 million dollar payroll lose out to Dallas might not irk me as much as others.

I mean the trade in general.

Acquiring Kesler does not give them any extra cap space. Getting rid of Dadonov does that, since he was on the active roster.

The Knights are attempting to trade an active healthy player (Dadonov) into an ability to access more LTIR cap relief space (Kesler) so that they can activate player(s) before the playoffs.
That is the summary of this trade.

So what? Ryan Kesler is never going to play again. It's the same as if the Knights had dumped Dadonov for nothing, except that they have an extra salary to pay.

I am not saying it is a problem. I am just pointing out what OptimalTales is trying to say. this move is just a work around because they likely couldn't find anyone who would take Dadonov without sending salary back.

It would be great if something prevented them from reactivating Stone and others.

Ah, I see. OptimalTates was framing this as if it were a cap dodge, and that does seem to be some posters' go-to assumption any time a player is on LTIR.
The fact is, a few posters have been claiming that Vegas would be able to ice a $100-million roster (which is an exaggeration: even now their total cap hit including LTIR is a bit under $93 million) on day 1 of the playoffs, and they wouldn't have to lose any roster players to do so.
Well, here we are, they have already sent Dadonov out of town, and replaced him with a player who's been on LTIR since 2019. Somehow I don't think Kesler is going to be miraculously ready to play in the first round.
Even if every other player on the Vegas roster is good to go for game 1 of the playoffs, including emergency callups, their total cap number will be $85,855,114 according to CapFriendly. This is not the crisis some people are making it out to be. Plenty of teams have gone that far over the cap just by accruing space through the season and loading up at the deadline.

So either the Knights screwed up by trading him without a list or his agent screwed up by not giving a list in time (which the Knights probably argue is a waiver).

You’d think it would be the Knights fault, since his original list had Anahiem on the list, and it would be up to Vegas to request an updated list before trading him.
