I don't mind it. He's a playoff vet, but aged, so don't hate the idea of facing him in the playoffs, and beats him landing with the Oilers

As for those worried about facing Fleury - every good team has a good goalie and I don't think 2022 Fleury is all that high on the list of scariest ones to face.
It would never have happened, as I don't think Holland has learned that opposing teams can retain salary.

Username checks out, but since you brought it up I found this little nugget on Wikipedia: "In 2006–07, the Penguins defeated the Flyers in all eight matchups between the two teams, and Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury became the first goaltender to defeat a team eight times in a season since 1967–68." I'm guessing no one has done that again since.

Flyers are always the best judges of goalies.

Maybe it was done last season with the same teams playing each other so many times.

Yeah, Fleury can be really good, but the last time was against the Avs and then he lost it against the Habs. He hasn't looked great this year though it's harder to tell on a bad team.

Tidy piece of business for the Hawks turning nothing into potentially a first rounder.

Haven't the Flames beat MAF multiple times this season?

Once, where he played pretty well.

But more importantly, the Flames have run up the score on much better goaltenders on much better teams multiple times this season.

Only once. It was a 5-2 win for the Flames, but Fleury only allowed 3 of the goals (the others were ENG). He faced 37 total shots.

Soderblom played the other game for Chicago.

It can help the Wild, but the way they have been playing defensively had been a bigger issue for them. Teams who try to change who they fundamentally are at this point in the season, usually don't last long in the playoffs.

The Wild with all their players could be a tricky matchup. But can Evason get this group who outscored early season problems to change who they are now?

Trying to outscore and hope for a goaltender to stand on his head typically doesn't last long in the playoffs.

When he is on there is no one better in the playoffs. When he's off everything is going in. So yes. Fleury was lights out against the Kings and a big reason Vegas went to the finals.

Don't think any of that matters though he's getting up there in age (37).

The headline for this story on NHL.com is "Fleury traded to Wild by Blackhawks"

...as opposed to Fleury traded to Wild by Rangers? Like, who else could have traded him to the Wild?

Just hope we don't run into a red hot Fleury in the playoffs.

This is my concern too.

Say what you will about his age or his regular-season numbers right now, this guy is perfectly capable of engaging 'God Mode' in the Playoffs.

Its practically his stock in trade.

Sure, you can wear him down, but in a short 7-game series he is not a player that I would be easily discounting.

At the moment, the Wild are in a divisional playoff spot. If Fleury improves them, the Flames won't face them until the third round. If not, it means Fleury isn't red hot.

I'm not worried either way.

Perhaps, although I don't recall hearing any team swept another division rival last year. And using the same goalie each time?
