So just to show how tight things are....if the Stars had beaten the Rangers at home last night.....
Vegas would be out of a playoff spot.
Anyone still actually believe that they are hiding Stone for no reason other than to let Eichel play?

I don’t think they have a choice at this point.

It does show that the cap circumventing is a gamble, particularly if you have to sit your best player to do it.

If they wanted an alternative, there are 21 other players on that roster. Why would they deliberately sit their best forward to make cap space for a worse player? If I ran the Golden Knights and could just put anyone I wanted on LTIR, Stone would be the last skater I would choose.

Not to mention the help he gave Montreal last season in extinguishing the Flames’ playoff chances. I really wanted the Flames to pick him up on waivers last season even though I hate the guy. The swing from having him instead of Montreal not having him could’ve made a big difference. There’s no doubt he can still play with the terrific season he’s having this year.
But back to your point, if the Flames didnhave to play Perry in the playoffs, that means the Flames made it to the Stanley Cup finals and I’d take that in a heartbeat.

I wasn't saying they chose to sit Stone, I said they don't have a choice at this point. They couldn't just bring him back even if he was healthy.

I know that's what you were saying. I'm saying they couldn't just bring him back even if they had cap room, because he's not healthy. It would take a special kind of stupidity to choose their best forward as the guy to sit just so they could circumvent the cap.

If the playoffs started today it would mean I’ve been in a coma for approximately 6 weeks because the last thing I remember is going to bed on the night DST was starting.

they didn't choose him but he would likely be in and out of the lineup like he has been all year if they had the cap space. They probably thought they could slide Eichel in and easily make the playoffs while giving Stone time to get back to 100%.
Martinez is even more egregious, guy has been in full practices since January. I bet Vegas makes some moves and we see some quick recoveries soon.

I bet the Avs would much prefer lining up Edmonton over soon-to-be healthy Vegas. That's a ####y match up for any #1 seed.

Flames will probably get healthy Vegas as a reward for their season

if you're going to play Vegas, you want it to be in the 1st round
1) they won't yet be totally healthy
2) the guys that have come back will still be playing catch up
