Apostrophe Use
As someone who actively grades papers for university students, you all are just touching the top of the iceberg. It’s way worse than you could imagine, and without software like Grammerly out there much of the writing would be illegible.

How did this happen? Just a reliance of technology? I think most of us here could write fairly well in high school*.
*I assume the majority of CPers were born between 75 and 85.

Yes, fundamental writing skills are not there and many students rely on citation generators and writing software to improve their basic work. The proof is in the pudding when I hear them speak and then see their writing. It's not comparable.

This post gave me PTSD. This, in not insignificant part, is why I left the academy to become a lawyer.

"Roll" for "role" is a common one I see on here and it's surprising because it shows up in otherwise well-written posts. The other one I've seen pop up a lot, and I'm not even sure how it happens, is "boarder" for "border".
I guess it could be predictive text as someone mentioned earlier.

Auto correct. I liked the way it sounded, so I left it alone.

my daughter insisted I try that wordle game as she's addicted to it, I have countless Facebook friends that are also hooked on it and all tell me its really challenging, so I give it a go, it's a mildly entertaining puzzle that so far takes me about 10 minutes to work out, it's by no means difficult and I am honestly wondering what the average vocabulary is if people think its a challenge

I get really mad if Wordle take me longer than 3 guesses to get. I have seen plenty of people not get it after 6 guesses on a regular basis, and I'm blown away by that.

I've done 20 of them so far, 8 at 3rd guess, so far 100% and now that I understand the tactics if you will, its getting easier.
The whole world was losing their collective minds at 'vivid' I was just annoyed my first guess was 'livid' or I'd have got it in 4.

It tests logic and vocabulary.
I missed one, I got stuck in a trap missing two letters from common words and if you play hard mode you can’t just use burner words to get rid of letters.
It also is much easier if you understand how words are structured and realize that many 5 letter words are either CCVCC CVCVC CCVVC or CVVCC and there are a very limited number of CC combos.

Right, it's the logic part that I think most people lack. I see people just using random words in the vain hope they'll land on the right answer. But also, their vocabularies suck. It's a bad combination: lack of thought and poor language skills.

Some of the words are horrible... like CYNIC is not a word that's commonly used
Also much easier to get 3 or less if you don't have hard mode turned on
Also there are words that just don't work in Canadian
i.e.
Color and Humor are 6 letter words to me...
Bloke only comes out when my drunk ass is trying to sound British
