Ok, I'll bite.

Tell them no thanks and not to stop by again.

If they come back, PM me and I will let the mission president know.

I tell them that I am very religous, but not interested in their religion...for the most part missionaries of most sects respect that...they are looking for the 'lost souls' who would be easier to convert than somebody who is gung ho on their own form of worship.

Thanks guys, you really helped me a lot.

Set up a meeting at a local pub and talk about it over a few drinks. Get them to buy.

hehehe

That was funny!

I had never heard of that before. It isn't that way in Lethbridge anymore though. I'll ask my parents about this too, my dad grew up in Raymond and my mother in Lethbridge. It is uncanny how all the towns south of Lethbridge are populated by mostly mormons and that a small town of Cardston would get a temple while a bigger center like Lethbridge, Medicine Hat or Calgary wouldn't.

I've never met a mormon from Picture Butte, they're either people with no religious association or CRC.

It was previously mentioned that mormon's don't go on missions to third world countries like Christians do, but wind up going to Lethbridge, Calgary, Los Angeles, etc. Well my cousin's son went to the Philippines, so they do go to other places than North America.

I worked at a place where mormon missionaries frequented on mondays (their day off) and I got to know a few of them, and none of them would try to talk to me about their faith. (Thank goodness it was monday?) I did learn a little bit on how their missions work though, but really, not much. They weren't very revealing about their inner workings, even if it was about something that would NOT contradict their religion.

Here are some of my personal favorites!
  • God lives on a planet near the star Kolob.
  • The Garden of Eden was in Missouri.
  • The Book of Mormon describes a civilization lasting for a thousand years, covering both North and South America, which was familiar with horses, elephants, cattle, sheep, wheat, barley, steel, wheeled vehicles, shipbuilding, sails, coins, and other elements of Old World culture. But no trace of any of these supposedly very common things has ever been found in the Americas of that period.

Tell them you've read the literature, and you appreciate their concern, but you have your own beliefs and going to their church will not change them. That's what I do. Generally, when they find out I'm a Christian of another denomination, they leave me alone.

I know these aren't the "right" things to do, but it's fun.
1. Pretend to be deaf and start fake signing to them.
2. Start talking gibberish really loudly. (Create a new language or fake something)
3. If approached when walking, start running.
4. If approached at home, open door and while they are giving you the "speach" call someone on your cell or cordless and just keep talking. (This really annoys them).
