Guessing the Flames get the starter and the Oilers get the backup...doesn't matter which way the back to back falls

Will be interesting to see how the Flames carry on going forward because with winning things change a little bit. 8 game winning streak you know the other team will be trying to end it.
That's were coaching comes in again, adapting to changing dynamics. It's amazing what Sutter has done here given our core is the same other than Markstrom for the most part.
Keep the wins coming, Go Flames!

I could see the Ducks playing Gibson tomorrow against Edmonton because they are in a tighter race with No Good Oilers. Stolarz could get the start tonight though I wouldn't be shocked to see Gibson go back to back.

Sutter is awesome but the Flames have a ton of new players since their last playoff appearance

Obviously they like Gibson more based on starts but really, stats wise there's not a lot of room between them.

Yep... it's a crap shoot... the Duck have been successful sadly against the Flames in the past and not so much against the Oilers... so who knows what they do... I think you play your best goalie in the game you feel you have the best chance of winning... but I also know that most NHL coaches don't think like we do, they think both goalies should win and maybe they play their best goalie on the harder opponent - who knows... but right now, with this Flames team, it doesn't seem to matter who is playing - they'll fill the net.

For all the talk and criticisms directed at Treliving about the lack of change on this roster...there are only 8 players that played a playoff games in 18-19 on the roster.
Gaudreau, Monahan, Lindholm, Tkachuk, Mangiapane, Backlund, Hanifin, Andersson
Really of that group I think they've kept the right guys too, I think the argument would be 1 of Backlund or Monahan should have been moved, but overall the roster has turned over substantially.

backup almost always gets the easier games though, Gibson is a far better goalie

TBF Macman said the core was intact. That said, Tanev and Markstrom are core and Toffoli and Coleman are just outside. Room-wise Lucic is probably core as well.
Core out: Gio and Brodie.

I'm just saying Gibson is better but it really doesn't matter - they are both quality goalies, but also, at the moment, neither of them is elite.

Haha... Warrener speculating that Darryl will be in a cranky mood today because everyone's feeling too good about themselves and Toffoli.

I guess you're right I had my attention on Gudbranson's scraped knuckles. His hands are a mess but I sure wouldn't want to be hit by one of those. Maybe he gets to flash them again against the Ducks, or is it Lucic's turn?

No. It will be much more satisfying for them to never, ever, ever make the playoffs again.

A foregone conclusion? The Oilers are in a dead heat with LA. It looks like anyone's game still.

The Oilers are lucky the Pacific is the way it is. It really is just he Flames and the Knights and then a massive clump of teams. The Oilers should be able to get ahead of that pack, which is probably why the Knights don't mind if they land in the #2 seed.
