Honest question. Which "bride" is available? Guessing it won't be easy to find top 6 Stanley Cup winners on the trade market

Does anyone have a video/link of Johnny mic’d up playing defense? That was hilarious.

What everyone came for

Maybe it’s to keep the refs in check

Prefer we'd just continued the season.

Do we still need this nonsense every season?

I guess its mainly for the kids and people in attendance.

Also players. Honour for those who get selected, especially the first time.

And Moreso the players not selected, so they have a planned weekend away with their families/golf clubs.

I don't think this any better really and they already tried that. But if they tried it again do we really need Canada with two teams? I'd rather see Canada, USA, Russia and Europe/the rest.

Would be a good format to potentially attract more US viewers - they love team America! And this might be the best team America ever

divisions are actually a terrible idea...half the teams players are eliminated before the finals...Pacific has done well all the other years so I never really realized. When Gaudreau was out my interest dropped about 90%

Home team guys were out in the first game

go back to east west and a normal length game...can still do 3 on 3 or 4 on 4

Might be interesting to see three periods where the first is 5 on 5, second is 4 on 4 and third is 3 on 3.

League is roughly:

44% CAD
28% US
28% Europe

Canada would be a little over-represented, but the US should want the best possible chance to win...

Does that breakdown change very much when you isolate to the top 50 or top 100 players or the players most likely to be selected to an all star game?

I'm sure they could find some sort of 3 way split of NA players to vs a Europe team.

We have Vic country and Vic Metro for state of origin in AFL

The players and the NHLPA do not care, nor do I blame them, about making any sort of complicated formula to make a more competitive all star game. The players and the NHLPA want this because of:

a)getting an extended weekend (almost a week) off mid season for most of the players, and for those that get selected,
b)the contract bonus acheived by being an all star
C)get wined and dined by league sponsors
d)schmooze with other players and friends
e)maybe get some inroads into sponsorship and updating their overall image.

You don't think JG, being mic'd up on Snet and showing his personality didn't help him this weekend for casual fans and for his image? Not that he needed it (see Draisital) but him being a out there a bit more doesn't hurt his marketabilty to sponsors.
