Someone tell Ho-Sang to set like 3 or 4 alarm clocks.

Seeing all these former-Flames, I'm reminded how Nigel Dawes and Dustin Boyd both got their Kazakhstan citizenship so they could play for them in the Olympics.

Then, not only do they not qualify but the NHL decided not to go to the 2018 and 2022 Olympics and Dawes and Boyd probably could have made Team Canada in at least 2018. It looks like Boyd has retired, but Dawes is still playing in Germany and leads his team in scoring.

I am very glad Ben Scrivens is no longer available. Certainly a random group and I definitely did not know some of these guys were still active.

Surprising to see Ho-Sang given this relationship with Hockey Canada and the NHL old boys club. Hopefully he lights it up

What even is the point? What if for some weird reason the speed skating federation prevented the sport’s top athletes from competing, would we be talking about sending third rate speed skaters? No, they would cancel the competition.

No Evander Kane? He is not in the NHL right now.

But I guess as soon as he lands in Beijing, he will be locked up in quarantine for like 3 months....

Good for these guys stepping up to proudly represent our country. Dare I say, more appreciative of the opportunity then some of the NHLers.

Thanks but I dont want any Flames going to China for God only knows how long. I think the NHL nailed this decision. Pro players should not be going to a Pandemic hot-bed in these circumstances.

Could you imagine if they went and there was an outbreak near the end of the tournament? They’d have to quarantine for 5 weeks. The Flames could have potentially been down Gaudreau, Tkachuk, and Markstrom for 5 weeks.

Excellent decision not to go given the circumstances.

The group is sufficiently "rag tag". I like it.

I don’t know. I like watching and cheering for ragtag groups like this. It’s why I love watching the Spengler cup every year. This is an unlikely opportunity for most of these guys to have a chance at an Olympic gold medal and a fairly high place in Canadian sports history.

Yeah I think this is great. I do love seeing the juggernaut Canadian teams in action at the Olympics, but I love this too.

I hope these guys enjoy the experience and represent their country with pride. I will be watching the Olympics but with all the NHL hockey going on , this is just a tournament of randos that doesn’t have much appeal to me.

A group of young underdogs that were practicing together and building an identity? Sure that’s appealing.

Spengler Cup is a good comparison and that’s the quality of hockey we’re talking about. Not much they could have done really though.
