Treliving is one of the worst GM's in the league. But he (or the owners forcing hin) hired one of the best coaches in the league. That decision probably allows the Flames to make the playoffs.

You could argue Magniapagne's line won a couple when he was on.

Why are we disregarding this? Sutter clearly said the team still isn't 100%.

Sutter talking about lack of emotion in the game.
Why do we think this has been a problem during this entire era? Perhaps it has something to do with Backlund and Monahan being in leadership roles on the team? Neither of those guys can even spell intense.

Sorting by points %, the Flames have 4 teams hot on their heels.
Conference wide, there are 12 teams that have a .554 or better points %; those teams are competing for 8 spots. It's a dogfight.

See this is why I stayed pessimistic about the flames the whole time.
When Sutter was hired and everyone was celebrating, who said he’d make no difference? Me.
When we started the season and people were all excited, who kept reminding people we’d fall off a cliff? Me.
When Markstrom looked like a Vezina favourite after that crazy hot start, who reminded people he’s always been a bum? Me.
When Johnny and Chucky had the makings of career years, who reminded people it’s only because they’re in contract years and will walk/hold out? Me.
Lesson of the day: pessimism always wins out. Odds are, your team will fail, make sure you end up on the right side of history by predicting failure.
That’s why all my life lessons were learned from Marge Simpson.

Next 3 games:
Florida, Edmonton, St. Louis.
Things could be very ugly at the end of that stretch.

Pitlick
Lewis
Ritchie
Zadorov
Gudbranson
Just wasting space
Coleman
Dube
Monahan
Lucic
Backlund
Doing pretty much nothing
Combine that with losing the goalie battle and it’s hard to win
Your depth can’t be trash if you want to be good, and this depth is trash.

Flames suck after a long break in the season? I'm shocked.
In other news, water is wet.

Meh this team looks like them old selves again. Rinse and repeat, better get it together or they ain’t sniffing the playoffs. But the big thing for me is if they are trending water they gotta move Johnny.

Florida is a guaranteed loss. Edmonton will be desperate to show they aren’t as bad as us. St. Loo has the ghost of James Neal.
Could get very ugly.

Trash performance by a team that hasn’t been good for 10 games now. Lots of bad performances by a lot of players tonight. Markstrom badly out-dueled by Murray. Backlund was straight terrible on both sides of the ice. I’m a big fan of this guy, but there’s a reason why I call him “Mr. Can’t Hit the Net....” because he can’t hit the damn net. Dube is not a center at this level yet. Monahan’s line was surprisingly good, but zero finish.
The pairings of Mangiapane-Dube, Backlund- Coleman needs to be split. These are not good pairings. Either that or Treliving has to make a move to create a new look and create new energy or the season is going to slowly but surely slip away. The rest of the west has caught up so there has to be more urgency here.

Because other teams have Covid also. The slides also started before Covid
Blaming this team problems on Covid is delusional

Backlund and monahan lost most of their shifts.
Pitlick is the worst forward on thd team. Why h
is he not in Stockton already, he's terrible???
Our bottom pair, whatever they had early in the season is gone. Both look useless, as advertised.
Markstrom, well just another game as a flame where he's the highest paid but second best goalie in the ice.
Top line was buzzing as usual.
Team has any identity it has.... Ugh

Disappointing loss, you can't really blame anybody here but the players and the team needs better depth.
As much as I like Lucic he can't be your best and most consistent player after the top line.
The schedule has been terrible too so hopefully with all these home games coming up things will get better. After 5 days off they should have been better though.
I was glad to see Sutter didn't pull the goalie in the final minutes down 4-1, admit you got beat and move on which is what he did.

The only positive from that game was the Lucic fight. That was a treat to watch.

Wonder if it’s a Covid thing for Markstrom. Not playing in the back-to-back, not taking the morning skate… we’ve seen firsthand that he’s pretty average if he’s not at 100%.
