Every team has stretches like this during an 82 game season.
This isn’t the Flames playing bad, they are getting PDO’d a little bit right now.
Over the last 5 they are 1-3-1 but they are still playing okay during that stretch. When you look at every NHL teams last 5 games the Flames rank:
Corsi For: 56.4% (2nd)
High Danger %: 54.5% (10th)
xGF%: 51.6% (11th)
Shooting % : 6.36% (27th)
Save %: .880 (26th)
PDO: .944 (29th)
When a team lands in a stretch like that it’s almost impossible to overcome. The shooting percentage is a concern because this team genuinely lacks finishers, but the goaltending will be better and this will bounce back.
It’s a tough 5 game stretch, and they’ve gotten a little sloppy (busy schedule and no practice time tends to do that) but they will be fine.
As for tonight the goalie let in two soft goals, and that’s the difference in the game

I love Darryl.
Flat out says that the team has no secondary scoring, that they’ve gotten very average goaltending as of late, and that this is still a process for this team as far as learning how to play the right way.
I’d love to see Treliving fix the secondary scoring problem sooner rather than later as it doesn’t take much more than a 4 game losing streak to wash away a strong start to a season.

I don't like Anderson on the powerplay. All of his shots just seem to be wasted with no rebounds to pick up.

On the plus side of things, that was the first time I recall seeing the Backlund line appear dangerous offensively.

Yeah not a fan of him on the Powerplay either. Need to try Kylington for a few games on PP1 maybe. Flames don't have a great defenseman that can walk the line and set up plays.

Yup, .850 goaltending won't cut it.
If you're putting up .920 you allow 2 Bruins goals on 23 shots, which means this one gets decided in OT.
That's what we need out of Markstrom and Vladar as often as we can get it to be successful as this team is currently built.
Maybe some scoring reinforcements/adds give you a little more wiggle room. But right now this team is poised to play 3-2 games.

Backlund can start by pushing pucks into fully empty nets in practice.
Not wide or two inches from the line.

Not sure I agree with this. Every team goes through slumps. Lots of talent but really lacking another Middle. Team should buy a center quick. Go for it. Get after it.

The Flames are good but there's teams that are just as good and even better and we've seen that in the last four games.
I think the Flames need a shakeup as in a trade and improve the depth.
It was good to see Tkachuk get a goal on his birthday.
Even though the Flames outshot the Bruins 42-27 they seemed a little off tonight, like they weren't quite ready.
Next 2 games on the road against Chicago and Nashville and I think they'll do better and even win in these games.
