Carter Hart turning back into a pumpkin didn't help AV at all.

I wonder if anyone will look at hiring Hartley again.

Hasn't he won 5 championships in 5 different leagues or something?
And he keeps adding to that total.

I think it's the team. Hart made fools of us and the hurricanes in back to back games this year. Put him behind a roster bought into team defense and I think he lights it up.

Is Chuck Fletcher on the hot seat?
Former Flyer, Scott Mellanby is available. Browsing the news when he left the Habs, seems he is very well thought of in hockey circles

Mellanby and Tochett as GM and coach

I just cannot see it. The only realistic possible avenue of return for Hartley was through Montreal, and while Bergevin was there this seemed like something that could feasibly happen. But now with him gone, and with bridges burned all over the NHL I don't think there is a path back anymore.

How does Mike Yeo keep getting work?

AV is widely looked upon as a very good coach. This is his shortest tenure with any NHL team he has coached being let go partway into his 3rd season. His first NHL head hoaching gig was in Montreal and that saw him relieved of his duties partway into his 4th season. He spent 7 full years with Vancouver and 5 full years with NYR.

So something must really stink in Philadelphia right now for a good coach in AV to be given a shorter leash. Especially so quickly after an off-season of major player changes.

I know!

To be fair, it is only on an interim basis. In this case he was lucky to just be in the organization during a mid-season coaching change. If the Flyers wait until the off-season to name the new head coach then I suspect Yeo will be moving onto other pastures.

This is Yeo's 3rd Head coaching gig. I'm not sure if his 2nd gig was interim and the title was removed after the season, but he was hired in STL as the associate coach and midway through his 2nd season they fired Hitchcock. They did keep Yeo for a year, but the year after that they let him go around 1/4 of the way into the season... then Berube did wonders with that team.

Makes you wonder how often guys are fired and re-hired by the same people.

Like working at the golf course at 15 years old with zero GAF and getting fired and re-hired 3 times over the summer.
