Yes, I believe it was was torn PCL on each knee. Very rare.

I remember him sliding in with both legs wrapped around the posts. Before magnets, plastic pegs, etc. In fact, it may have been one of the reasons for the change.

It was a big reason for the change to plastic pegs.

Hindmarch's injury was in December 1983, and the NHL brought in the magnetic goal posts at the start of the 1984-85 season.

You’re right...then the Marsh peg system in 1991. They are still the standard in the NHL, today.

Which ushered in the ‘no goal, somebody sneezed accidentally-on-purpose and the weakly anchored net flew into the 15th row’ era.

Also the ‘no goal, goaltender interference, the shooter crashed the net at full speed knowing the posts couldn't possibly hurt him, gee I hope your backup goalie is ready to finish the night’ era.

Those magnetic posts were far too easy to knock loose. I remember how relieved I was to see them introduce the pegs instead.
