D doesn't look so hot either.
Oh well, football is back so this is a nice change.

I think the defense has been fine aside from the opening drive, Carey's fumble gave Toronto a short field for their other major and that's been about it for the Argos offense.

Going to need some penalty help here.
Well that pick won't help.

Why did Calgary choose to receive the kickoff?

Stamps offence totally blew it in the 4th....extra dagger how it was all former Stamps leading the comeback. Still so happy its back though, that was fun

No option GS, after the three minute warning in the 4th quarter, the scoring team must kick-off.
35-yard line — after a score of three points by the kicking team, or the team scored against may elect to put the ball in play by kickoff from its own 35-yard line. If score occurs after the 3 minute warning in 4th quarter the scoring team must kickoff.

Yup....D was pretty good, though a bit soft in their zone coverage at times, especially late.
Lose the turnover battle....lose the game. Oldest truism in football.
Some discipline issues that will be addressed.
O line has some work to do, but that was expected.
Carey has to be better too. They will have to lean on him a lot moving forward.

Yikes Bo was bad. Maybe practice with your receivers? Way too many throws where he was not on the same page as his receivers.

Do other CFL teams even have GMs or scouts? Every other team's roster is half ex-Stamps, and the Stamps always have 2-3 guys that have ever played for another CFL team, then they get stolen again because the Stamps turn them into stars.

Frustrating game for sure, very winnable and the Stamps will look back at that and be very disappointed with the mistakes. Carey absolutely has to be more disciplined.
I’m not gonna totally meltdown about it, there’s lots of new faces on the team and without any exhibition we’re gonna need to be patient.

I'll give them a few more games to work out the kinks. Mitchell looked like he didnt used anyone but Jorden near the end.
After the reversed TD it looked like the team lost all confidence and just crumpled.

Here’s the cool welcome back/75th celebration video they showed at the beginning of the game for anyone that missed it.

Random thoughts from the game in person:
The lineup to get in the gates were longer than I’ve ever seen, for the relatively low attendance, this shouldn’t have been an issue. Then all of a sudden the live started moving quicker, and I think it appeared that they were letting people through the turnstiles without even checking tickets, maybe a passing glacé at the phone screen at most. No scanning tickets that were intended to be scanned.
There is ZERO fans of the field this year, no of the “worlds fastest cow” or “find a flight”. The outriders only dance in the south end zone, not out closer to the players like they often do.
Those retro unis are fantastic. Great to see the red and white back.
Some discipline issues, need to clean that up.
Definitely sloppy play, some preseason would have helped.
The refs need to speed things up. A ref conference isn’t required for every procedure penalty.
For the first game in two years, can’t over analyze too much. But we shouldn’t have lost that game.

Looks like attendance was 23,921, which doesn’t seem too bad considering the home opener in 2019 was 26,301. If you had a bag the lineup to get in was massive; hopefully they can streamline that going forward. Fortunately I did not have a bag, and my electronic ticket seemed to work okay (in previous years I would just take a screenshot of my barcode).
The one thing I didn’t see a lot of (besides beer vendors) was kids. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t paying attention (as I didn’t think about it until this morning), but I’m pretty sure there were a lot less kids at the stadium. For the future of the league, hopefully they were watching on TV from home...
As for the game itself, the start was awful (two and out, followed by a long Toronto drive), and that seemed to take some juice out of the stadium. The heavy ground attack with Carey and Litre kind of slowed things down as well. But I agree I’m not going to overanalyze anything for week 1. With a young team, they should get better as the season goes on.

Totally agreed with everyone about the sloppiness on offence, which between the cancelled season combined with how much talent the Stamps lost in FA, was fairly expected this early. I'm sure they'll get better and start gelling as the season goes on, especially Bo. But even on top of that, I'm still not 100% convinced they even have the horses on offence to be a top contender at all...thats a lot of unknown names in skill positions on offence outside of Jorden, who's pretty injury prone himself.
I think we've become so accustomed to Huff & his staff seamlessly replacing lost talent with unknown gems that we may be assuming he's done it again, and just a matter of waiting for them to gel & break out. But that may not be the case, this could very well be a "reload" year for the Stamps, who may simply lack talent on offence in general...we'll see.

In the CFL though it sounds like a broken record, its how you finish, and not start.
With the class and stability of the franchise and the coach/GM, Stamps are always there in the end for that reason.
Toronto reinvents itself every 2 years, and them or some other team will go out and take the dinosaur Jim Barker off the TSN panel and give him a job in order to try and save a season.
