He produces slightly less than what you'd want from a 4th liner. Turns 35 this year.
But I'm sure Sutter will get the most out of him.

I’m assuming this takes the flames out of the running to unite the Ritchie brothers.

Someone who occupies the area in front of the net? A novel idea for this team.

What part of that statement is wrong or even negative? The Flames being short on offensive skill without a big shakeup is an obvious truth that I think almost everyone can agree with. Chill out, my guy.

Flames bottom six is going to get scored in less. This is good.

Yeah, going to have a hell of a time replacing Ryan's 23 points and the.... wait.. 16 points the other 5 guys who played on the 4th line scored (combined)?

That can't be right.

Pitlick and Lewis combined scored more than 50% of the points scored by Ryan, Leivo, Simon, Nordstrom, Robinson, and Rinaldo combined.

I'm sure we'll manage.

We do? I think we're one short. We've got 12, including RFA Dube. That leaves Froese and Gawdin in the minors where they should be. Unless the 13th forward is Ruzicka? These bottom six signings speak to the felling of the team about our young players and the potential to crack the team. Not much help on the farm.

Considering we had buttersoftest team in league history the past few years, that wasn't so hard...

Build the team around the coaching style rather than bring a coach who knows how to use the talent on the roster. It's always been the Flames' way. Make the most of it, enjoy mind-numbingly boring 1 goal games, and hope we can sneak into the playoffs where these guys shine.

Outside of Ryan, our forward depth was not remotely good offensively last year. It sort of contributed to us missing the playoffs. We didn't manage last year.

Without Ryan, who actually produced at one of the more productive rates in the league, it'll probably be just as bad.

I'm hopeful guys like Ruzicka, Phillips, Pelletier, Zary are given an opportunity ahead of a guy like Trevor Lewis. That's all.

If this is true, it's something to look forward to.
Even if it's just from an entertainment or team identity standpoint, at least there's a direction.

We don’t leave room for prospects, not the Calgary way

I don’t find smash mouth hockey boring. Plus, Sutter doesn’t mind his offensive guys scoring. He went out and got Shein Donovan off the bat, a guy who loved to race up the ice. He acquired Cammi, Tanguay, Jokinen, Huselius, etc.

I don't mind it. If it doesn't work out, he is buried, or just sits as the 13th forward. He is an upgrade on Ronaldo, no? I don't even mind Ronaldo either (as long as he doesn't play every game!).

Lucic - Lewis - Ritchie

That's a nightmare to play against, no? Lewis and Ritchie can both skate really well and move well. Lucic is actually really fast on the forecheck - once he gets moving, Lucic is actually really fast out there still, just isn't very agile, but he is smart and is very good defensively.

This should give opponents nightmares to play against. Not bad. Very traditional 4th line.

What prospects? No one is ready?

This legitimately only affects Gawdin and I could see Lewis mentoring him and splitting the games as Lewis is 34 and probably needs more rest.

I can see Darryl telling Lewis "I want you to be our number 1 penalty killer and I want you to mentor this kid Gawdin, he fits your profile to a T"

Meh. Lucic-Pitlick-Lewis won't score much but they also won't get scored on much, you can trust them to take a defensive zone faceoff. It's fine.

Mangiapane, Dube, Vamimaki, Anderson, Tkachuk, and there are more depending how far back you want to go.

Not too sure if you’re serious, but the Flames have made spots available to prospects over the recent past.
