I actually don't really want Ryan re-signed. However, I am not sure I want the Flames to spend assets on a guy like Pitlick either. I am sure it will be less than a 3rd round pick, however.

Default Seattle selects Tyler Pitlick from ARI and might flip him to the Flames?

I’ve never understood this low mileage thing. He has still been playing professional hockey since 2011. Junior and University before that. It’s not like the mileage starts ticking once a guy breaks into the NHL

Thinking about wasting assets on Tyler Pitlick? Someone hide Treliving's phone. Pitlick is waiver material come the end of training camp.

Good teams don’t pay 4th liners that much though. I can live with $1.75 mil for a 3rd or 4th liner. He’s big and decent skater plays physical. I think he will fit well on a sutter team. If it’s a 3rd it’s a bit too much. 4th I’m ok with it

You can’t force a bozo to come here in free agency but you can force a bozo by trade.

Because it's not the same level of play/traveling/skill levels. Same reason people look for NHL experience vs overall hockey experience.

It’s about resting your body. Most personal trainers would advise you not to workout as much as a professional athlete does. Add in 3 games in 4 nights and playing through injuries takes a toll on you. Nhl players have less rest and more pressure to play through injuries. Mileage does matter

I'd be ok with it just because the grab bag of guys Tre signed for bottom 6 roles last year went so badly that just starting over and trying different guys sounds good to me.

They also need to replace Bennett's minutes and maybe Ryan. There is a need for quality bottom 6 forwards.

Would be nice if they'd look at teams besides the Coyotes though.

4th for Fantenberg.

I have to agree. Stop burning picks for support pieces. Our prospect depth is suffering. Surely BT can find a UFA at a similar cost with his numbers/pedigree without forfeiting a pick.

Why are we in love with the most obscure players?

Why can't we have the same obsession with hunting down a high impact guy?

We have cap room to pick up three pitlicks if we wanted.

Agreed.

He's an okay defense only 3rd liner that generates no offense (actually very similar advanced stat profile to Barclay Goodrow).

Maybe if he's only costing you a 4th round pick or a B prospect, but anything more than that is an overpayment.

Cost probably should be a 4th round pick max. Look at what Arizona made available; I don't think you could get more than a 4th round pick for anything. Pitlick and Fischer might get you a 3rd round pick at the trade deadline when contenders are going all in but you shouldn't pay more than that in the Summer.

No more wasting assets for player types that are readily available for free in the open market. Thanks

I don't know Pitlick from Potluck but why would Seattle waste their pick on him? He must have some kind of value right?

Please stop wasting assets on on these kinds of players. Guys like Pitlick are available every single year on PTOs.

Clearly this trade is about reuniting the dreaded the Lucic-Pitlick combo that the Oilers had a few years ago.

We'll get Dvorak too and reunite him with Tkachuk.

It's all about unity.

I can’t say I have ever heard of him. But I do agree that we shouldn’t be wasting picks on bottom feeder players .
