It looks like the state laws are pretty loose: https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/...f-safety-tips/

As long as the person is sober and over 18, there don't seem to be many other restrictions on who can set off fireworks.

I think that, while teams generally know what kind of training their players do, and perhaps set the regimen for them, they don't really control who they do it with, or where. Which is why you always hear about guys from different teams who work out together in the offseason. Like Gio and Connor Brown ("back to the gym!").

Sometimes the worst case scenario comes to fruition, but you cant live you're life in fear beacuse *maybe* it could happen to you. Matiss was far from the only person in the States around fireworks on the 4th
I mean he's not exactly a hero or anything either. Seems like such a pointless preventable death.

That's heartbreaking.

Is there any more information about exactly what happened? Based on what Elvis Merzlikins is saying, I am picturing a malfunction that put others in danger and Kivlenieks tried to prevent others from getting hurt.

Manny Legace made Merzlikins laugh with this line: “Torts even flew in, and he hates goalies."

A light moment is super important especially on such a heavy day.

Spoiler!

They had professionals set up and operate a firework display for a wedding, sounds like it was just a horrible accident

Merzlikins claims he saved his and his pregnant wifes lives, and potentially several others. Merzlikins said he's going to name his second son Matiss

So he literally did die as a hero

Torts was coaching Boogaard when he died and did not attend his funeral.

Bob McKenzie told Torts once that he treats dogs like people and people like dogs.

He’s not wrong.

That is absolutely heartbreaking. He definitely died a hero and saving all those lives gives him the biggest shutout of his career.

I hope they caught the guy and that the Dallas Stars are preparing a lifetime ban press release for this "fan" to never set foot in their arena again.

It's Texas, they probably give him season tickets.
