Isn't that pretty much saying that being gay is bad though?

Oh you're a guy and you have a picture of a topless guy, there is something wrong with you.

A brain fart on McLean's part. It'll get torqued out of context though because of the Cherry Incident. Just enough of a reason to put him out to pasture.

Right. I’m not excusing it, I’m saying people are twisting themselves into pretzels to find a harmless interpretation.

Watch the faces of Botterill, Hrudey and even Bieksa. Botterill is clearly taken aback. Kelly spreads his hands like “WTF” and Bieksa doesn’t even laugh - just has a kind of frozen smile.

What’s the good context?

I genuinely can't see any context for this other than a jibe at being crazy for liking men or he likes men therefore he is HIV positive.

He reminds me of Alan Partridge or David Brent.

Asking because I wasn't alive in the 80s, or the 90s for that matter. Could you explain what he meant and tell me what appropriate context he was trying to use?

He’s pretty obviously making a gay joke. Poor taste. Don’t know if it’s worth him losing his job over. But would be a funny way to see him go after he threw Cherry under the bus.

I don't know how to upload images on this site without hosting them somewhere first but there is that one of Ron from a few years ago shirtless playing air guitar at the bar.

Also, hockey slang never fails to hit new lows of lameness every time I hear it. Tarps off is terrible.

Oh, but of course it's worth losing his job over. And he should also lose his job because he doesn't introduce himself by immediately saying his preferred pronouns. And because his preferred pronouns are the patriarchal cisheteronormative ‘he/him’, which is just not allowed anymore. And because he's zweedledabophobic.

What's that? You don't know what a zweedledab is? Shame on you. You'll find out next year, when it becomes the Woke Flavour of the Month and you can lose your career for being insufficiently supportive. Remember, ‘silence is violence’, and so is saying the wrong thing.

It's not just the gay thing though, it's the AIDS thing. I'm among the last people to jump on someone for making a joke in poor taste or a comment on air that the person would like to take back, but I honestly can't think of a worse thing to make a random, off the cuff joke about. The holocaust? Probably not even that.

From earlier this month. It praises Sloane's advocacy, but MacLean seems to support it as well.

Is MacLean homophobic? Obviously I can't speak either way, but there doesn't seem to be a history of it (and I stand to be corrected).

A really poor attempt at Dad Humour? Again, I can't speak for him.

It will probably end with MacLean going on hiatus and eventually his contract terminated/not renewed.

HNIC is shedding big ticket salaries wherever they can, so this is their opportunity.

It doesn't matter. One incident is all you need to be branded for life. And there is no such thing as forgiveness.

I wonder if some of you are new to the whole ‘Twitter mobs rule the world’ thing.

As if we needed more proof Ron is stuck in the 90s. An aids joke? Come on man. Get with the times already.
