Jeff Gorton is a really good personnel guy. If the Flames are considering changes they should be kicking the tires.

Calling out the league like a boss for starters. That’s all I need.

Larry Brooks is wrong. What a shocker.

Not surprising this is the decision though. Especially once it looked like he had turned down other opportunities for interviews etc

Just because Panarin, Fox, Lafreniere and Kakko fell into his lap doesn't make him a good GM. Although have to give him credit for the Zibanejad trade.

Derick Brassard and a seventh-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft to the Ottawa Senators for forward Mika Zibanejad and a second-round pick in the 2018 draft

He also was responsible for drafting a lot of the talent on the Bruins cup winning team

He pretty well built the Bruins Stanley Cup winning roster. He's a really good talent evaluator.

Crazy the work Gorton did as interim GM for a short period of time.

In his time as interim general manager of the Bruins, Gorton most notably ran the 2006 NHL Entry Draft which produced for the Bruins Phil Kessel, Milan Lucic and Brad Marchand. At the same draft, Gorton traded goaltender Andrew Raycroft to the Toronto Maple Leafs for goalie prospect Tuukka Rask.[3] Raycroft was coming off a subpar season and his two-year stint in Toronto would prove disastrous, with the Leafs buying him out of the final year of his contract.[4] Rask, meanwhile, had been selected in the first round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by Toronto and went on to win the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goaltender in the 2013-14 season.[5] Rask has also led the Bruins to two Stanley Cup Finals appearances; in 2013 and 2019. On July 1, Gorton signed Zdeno Chara and Marc Savard as free agents. Chara would go on to win the Norris Trophy in 2009 as the NHL's best defenseman while under the contract signed by Gorton.

The best thing to come out of this is that it appears Dolan wants to be the puppet master and he will go big name hunting in the offseason.

Could be a good time to get some real good young, NHL ready assets from them from some of out "big name" core guys.

I could see Davidson coming here.

I think if a GM move is made, Lombardi is probably the more likely choice given his ties to Sutter.

He made a few nice moves over the years.

Hard to judge his drafting record yet, they didn't have high picks the first 2 years.
