Devils waive Nick Merkley

Eh, I thought highly of Merkely but I also figured he'd be in the NHL as a regular by now. Wouldn't have minded a waiver claim on him by the Flames but at this point I kind of want to see our own kids play games for the rest of the season. Philips and Ruzicka are begging for NHL games. I really want to see what they got at this level.

Much like with Connelly, this could just be an indication of who is available on each team nearer the deadline, but there has to be contract in/contract out and cap in/cap out for each movement. The only players we have really seen claimed this whole year has been goalies, and a lot of interesting players have hit the wire.
