Lucic has been a heart and soul type player since he arrived. Which is admirable; because a) he could just ride out his contract b) the oil stain effect tainted him in Edmonton c) So few Flames have been heart and soul.

That's a hell of a say.

Yeah that’s the way it will play out.
Sabres will be looking to get whatever they can for him. If he vetos a trade they will find someone else. They are going to sit on him and lose for nothing.

And if he vetoes the trade to someone else?
Hall is most likely to be traded in the last few days before the deadline, simply because that's when his prorated cap hit will be lowest. It's not like the Sabres are going to have a lot of time to make deals and then wait for His Imperial Hallness to let them know if he approves of any of them – let alone find another dance partner if he doesn't. It would hardly be the first time that a pending UFA wound up walking for nothing after a trade fell through.
Considering that the only teams likely to be bidding are those that view themselves as contenders, Hall would be a fool to veto any trade. Wherever he goes, it will be better than Buffalo. If he wants to choose his destination, he can do that during the off season.

I really don’t even know what you’re arguing. Someone commented that his luck he’d get traded to Arizona again. I said he has a NTC so if he doesn’t want to go to Arizona he doesn’t have to. That’s it. The choice more then likely isn’t going to be between Arizona or Buffalo.
Plus I’m sure they don’t just listen to one offer at a time hash out a deal, then go ask Hall if he’s ok with that.
Hey hall, you know we suck, we’re going to send you to a contender for a playoff push, here’s the 5 teams that have inquired. Which ones are you ok with?
Why do you think he got a NTC on a one year deal?
No idea why you’re jumping down my throat. He has control where he goes. Pretty simple. Just like iginla vetoing a trade at the deadline when the Flames traded him.

The problem with Buffalo is simple-Kruger. He should stick to coaching soccer.

OK, Bennett for Eichel. Of course, Buffalo will have to add.

Trust me, I know you're right. I'm in some Hockey Pools and in one of them I'm 37th...out of 41. Eichel and Hall are on that particular team.
Its all good though, the other team in the same pool has been 2nd -4th up and down all year.

The biggest difference though is between the ears. Hathaway knows his role and plays it very well. Bennett doesn’t know his role and doesn’t really play any role well.
So I’d agree with you. Right now. However if Sutter can get Sam’s role and mental game on track, and he’s willing to put his ego aside, that could (and hopefully will) change. If he puts Bennett in the same role as Hathaway and he embraces it, he’ll be more effective than Hathaway. I’m not holding my breath though because his IQ is just rock bottom, and my guess is that his mental state is in shambles. It’s a long way back.

I was always a fan of Hathaway and I wish there was a way to get him to stay.
That contract they offered him was really risky, but credit to the Caps they saw something Brad didn’t.
Darryl might be able to salvage the Eternal Disappointment that is Bennett, but I doubt he amounts to anything more than a grinder at best.

I like what Sutter did with Bennett last game. 4th line, yes, but with decent players and regular shifts. PK role for extra ice time and responsibilities. Keep him engaged and put him in a position to succeed.

The media buzz about the young superstars these days, but these two guys continue to do what they’ve done for a decade and a half. What a treat it has been to watch them.
I’m not sure we see players like this for another generation.

Bergeron 24pts 24gp
Kane, Kopitar, Marchand, Backstrom all in top 10 for points.
Joe Pavelski 24P in 22gp.

John Garnett Hathaway is a player this team really needs and needed last year.
All energy, stirs it up, but fundamentally and positionally aware, a solid skater and sneaky skill to finish or make plays. Him and Ryan were fantastic two years back.

Too bad.

His 2 full seasons in Calgary were decent for a bottom 6 player. It’s too bad that he didn’t progress. People hated on him the minute he was drafted because he was regarded as an off the board pick. I don’t mind the risk, but a lot of people called that one.

Can you imagine how good the Bruins would’ve been if they would’ve drafted a bit different in 2015? They could have been an absolute juggernaut.

Should talk about Brodie too. By all accounts he's well liked in Toronto and has really helped to stabilize their D. +13 and playing regularly on the top pairing.
I don't follow the Leafs all that much but by all accounts he's come as advertised and well worth his contract.
Of all the departed Flames I'm happiest for him the most. Earned himself a nice contract and gets to be closer to his family, while earning high praise in a tough market. Well deserved.

Jordan Staal is sitting at 22 points in 24 games so far this season. Last year he has 27 points in 68 games and before that has been a 0.6 PPG player.
JVR has 28 points in 25 games and is leading the flyers in scoring this season.
