Again, I'm generally ok with Ward (though would have been excited for Gallant or Boudreau this last off-season)...

But yeah, Simon going from a healthy scratch to the top offensive line? That's a bad look. Simon almost immediately turns it over for an odd man rush goal against and gets benched too...

Meanwhile, Brett Ritchie goes from a PTO 14/15 F signing to playing on that top offensive line midgame? WOOF.

It's a really bad look for both Ward and Treliving.

How safe would bets be against the Flames this weekend? Anyone know a good bookie?

I'm kinda done with rotating 4th liners throughout the lines every game. Time to play your top 9 players on your top 3 games.

Would help if Chucky found his game again. And if they could start the game on time, which has been a problem for years, for whatever reason.

There's lots of time left, but there's no guarantee this is a playoff team.

This is the problem, Ward is looking more and more like Gulutzan, insisting on rolling 4 lines ALL game long. Those forward lines were working well last season, why in the world he changed them? And then, in the middle of the game, just throw them into the blender?

Maybe Terry is getting tired of doing colour on the Nashville broadcast...

Coaching is a problem but it is far from the only problem. The forward group has some major major structural and talent issues.

This team needs a change. I'm a big supporter of Treliving, but at some point he needs to address the issues with this team, if he's unable to do so then ownership needs to find someone who will. In the offseason I though adding Markstrom would elevate this team, but while consistent goaltending was definitely an issue, it's becoming clear that the issue with this team is more a combination of preparedness, execution, and emotional investment. I won't say this team doesn't care, or is fine with losing, but they don't seem willing to do the little things consistently, they don't seem to hate to lose and that's a big issue for me as a fan.

Now help me here: is THIS the game where they have another closed door meeting, like every year when they've played off/on and then got beat horribly by about 1/4 way into the season? Or is it next game? Cuz it's gotta be soon here.

Then they win 9 in a row, then after that they play .51 and just barely make the playoffs, yeah?

That's the formula as I see it.

That was the first decision I found just not arguable. Minds you, the Ritchie thing sort of worked, except Johnny and Monahan couldn’t score tonight.

I’m all for a coaching change but I don’t think it solves much. The team is just not there.

So much this....these 3 lines have all been solid over time. Put them together, and f’ing leave it alone for 10 games.

You wanted Lindholm to be a C. It’s not working for the team. I don’t care if Tre, Ward, Lindholm himself or the spirit of Ken King is saying to leave him at C, you have to do something to motivate this roster.

At least one of two things is true here. Either the coach is the problem or this core doesn’t have what it takes. Sadly I fear it might be both.

Not sure if it's Ward or Treliving or Lindholm or a combination of all 3, but it seems like the team is insistent on leaving Lindy at center. So now the Flames have to figure out what centers are going to play the wing, what the line combos are, what 4th liner will play on the top line, etc.........Lindy is so good everywhere he plays, putting him back at RW on that top line solves a lot of problems at once. I sure wish they'd give it a shot.

the same story happened last season? 28 at center, 11 on the wing, Buddy on first line? I remember the lines were changed back after a player only meeting, just call another again

I'm generally a Ward and Treliving supporter but this game was a cry for help.

Mantha out of DET, or a handful of Nashville players would all be huge upgrades for this team. Doing nothing but expecting this lineup formation with Simon/Leivo/Ritchie/whoever to help that line is ridiculous. It's clearly not happening.

At the very least with how useless Tkachuk has been lately, why not go back to a top 9 of:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Mangiapane
Dube - Bennett - Lucic

If they can't hire another coach, I would like to see, GM fires the coach and take coaching for himself and let the players play own. Just want to see if coaching is really important.
