The last thing a team with a core that likes to take nights off regularly is to add another player who likes to take nights off regulalry. I mean Galchenyuk is a perfect fit for this team, fits like a glove really in terms of culture and attitude, but he’s not what this team actually needs.

Guys who play hard all the time like Byron is what this team needs but that salary is a big no.

Not gonna happen, but I would offer Carolina a trade for Galchenyuk where they retain some of the cap hit. I wouldn't give up anything of consequence. If they retained say $300k, he could replace one of the league minimum guys on the roster and it wouldn't change the situation for our cap space.
