(I only joke because I am assuming that, as a 23 year old athlete, he'll be fine - certainly hope so)
This, on top of the 2 month flu he had a couple of years ago. He’s turning into Typhoid Mary.

Unless he was supposed to do some scheduled draft PR why even announce this. It was pretty clear what the PA stance had on covid and positive tests, to protect players. Just why?

Again, I think it has to do with what happened to Matthews with the TO media.

Send him to the White House where he can’t give it to anyone else.

Seriously though, after you test positive for Covid-19 how is self-quarantine voluntary?

Great timing to get everyone to focus back on the Oilers.

Came for the "Covid is the best case scenario for diseases you can contract in Edmonton" zingers, left unsatisfied.

I'm not mad at all of you, I'm just disappointed...

You don't have to die to be permanently damaged by covid, and it can be extremely unpleasant even if you make a full recovery.

Making fun of this makes CP looks bad.

Trump deserves all the criticism and mockery for getting covid, McDavid does not.

It really feels like standards for behavior have lowered in this place.

Because he's McDavid. He leads, he doesn't follow.

I don't see many mocking McDavid as opposed to the hype this will get, as evidenced by the past. I agree, permanent lung damage is a possibility, which for an athlete is bad (though he has his piles of money to fall back on).

My first instinct was to agree, but if there was more context behind how he got covid, it would make it easier to judge. For example, if he was partying at some night club when he contracted it, he kind of deserves it.

I wasn't making fun of anything.

It'd also be extremely rare for anyone to get permanent lung damage from Covid without first being hospitalized, and it would be very rare for a 23 year old athlete to be admitted to the hospital with Covid.

In other words, McDavid having any kinds of long term affects would be the far outlier and not the norm. Any other statement on the issue is fear mongering.

But sure go ahead and accuse me of "lowering standards".

Edit: Now that I think about what you're actually doing.....I brought up legitimate facts, and you tried to silence me under some kind of decency code. And other posters gave you thanks for that? What is happening around here?

Also, why on Earth are you even mentioning Trump?

What studies have been done showing permanent damage, maybe a citation would be good.

And why does a world leader that is meeting with people and leading the country 365 days a year DESERVE it any more than a young person who should also know better? Personal bias showing?

Because Trump is a monster, that's why. There is a huge difference between a sociopath who has lied, cheated, and destroyed lives and a rival hockey player.

I guess if Simmons was spotted in the area. I think he would have learned to fall in line. No way the Oilers media report it, I can't see them rocking the boat with a negative story.
