Martin Brodeur as as Blue is weird too. Less weird since he stayed with the org - but I think of him as a career Devil.
Nope - he was a Blue.

Florida traded Jokinen at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft; he was sent to the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for Keith Ballard, Nick Boynton and a second-round draft pick.

The Rangers have had a lot of weird ones

Remember the Rangers stars like Eric Staal, Marcus Naslund, Pavel Bure, Bryan Berard, Derek Morris, Bryan McCabe, Roman Hamrlik, Matt Cullen, Ryan Malone, Anson Carter and Anders Eriksson (lol)

Even guys who played there for longer like Brendan Shanahan, Martin St Louis and Theo Fleury still feels strange to me

Olli Jokinen fits too. I just remember it well since we traded him there, and I'll never forget the game where it came down to a shoot-out for the Rangers to make the playoffs and Jokinen didn't score

Gretzky too... super weird.

It would be completely forgettable if he didn’t cough it up leading to the greatest slap shot goal of all time by Stevie Y.

Jokinen played 1231 regular season games and scored 750 points.
Played only 6 playoff games, all with the Flames and scored 5 Points.

That was a heck of a scenario, one we don't often see. Rangers vs. Flyers in the final game of the season, tied going into the game and the winner makes the playoffs, the loser doesn't. The game goes to a shootout and the Rangers lose after Jokinen fails to score on the final shot (obviously, not his fault solely, but people still like to blame the last guy to shoot).

Without that, we likely would have missed out on so many crazy storylines that spring. The Flyers comeback from 0-3 in the second round. The 7 vs. 8 Eastern Conference Final. The Flyers in the Stanley Cup Final.

Yeah but didn’t he do his patented full length skate sweeping backhand that everyone had been watching for 5 seasons already?

For real though, Eric Staal as a Ranger is one of the stranger ones to me. I don't remember him being traded there or being a Ranger at all

His career is one of the most under-rated to me. Over 1000 points in 1200 games, led a team in scoring to a Stanley Cup and was the leading scorer in those playoffs, a 100 point season, multiple seasons over a PPG, Olympic Gold and has been so consistent for 15 seasons now. It's really too bad he's being wasted in Minny because he's one of the better players of our generation

Sundin as a Canuck was always weird for me. I guess Sundin as a Leaf was also weird.

Alfredsson as a Wing. Gretzky on the Blues.

I'm surprised there's not more, I wonder what the internal pressure is like to play. I'm sure no one wants to let the team down or be considered not a team player. I'm sure the guys with underlying health issues in the family get a deserved pass but there's probably lots of banter among the rest.

What does a player lose by opting out? Is there just bonus cash for those who show?

This has the potential to be a s**tshow if Covid gets into any of those locker rooms. Or it could go off without a hitch, which would be nice and would probably help us get back to normalcy.

There is playoff bonus money that's paid to the players based on how far they go in the postseason.

Players have until 5:00pm ET on Monday to inform their teams that they're opting out, so there will likely be some more who do.

Answering my own question, yes he did. And even tried the backhand from the wrong side of the ice. Awful attempt.
