Giordano-Andersson
Brodie-Hamonic - I think I remember this working well?
Hanifin-Stone - Take responsibility away from Hanifin for a few

I'm willing to see this brodie/hamonic pairing again. Brodie has played is best hockey this year, compared to the past few years.

I think Brodie has kind of carried Giordano at times this year, hoping he can do the same for Hamonic.

Yeah let's not play Brodie on his bad side and staple him back to the defenceman who he has played his worst hockey of his career with. Can't imagine that going well.

For what it's worth, towards the end of 2017-18 (~February) it was actually a strong pairing, but teamwide shooting percentages had fallen and then Brodie got a concussion and was out of the lineup.

Hamonic's lost a step since then though, so I'm not overly optimistic.

Only took them 5 months to find chemistry, and man did GG commit to that pairing.

Can we get another goalie fight please? Dell still needs to answer for his cheapshot on Bennett. I'd love to see Rittich go down the ice and fight him.

I'm fine with Bennett answering for his cheapshot on whatever that czech defenseman was as well.

GG was a disaster. I'm just saying that perhaps if Reaves doesn't level Brodie, maybe that pair has a different story written about them. Brodie was playing his best hockey of the Gully Era when that Vegas game happened. There was a road trip to Pittsburgh, Buffalo, New Jersey and a few other stops where Brodie was our best player and Hamonic was "good Hamonic" and not the pylon he was early that season.

I hated that pairing as much as anyone but itnwas a story of four quarters of the season

1st quarter - Hamonic was bad - injury, new team, new system, etc
2nd quarter - Brodie was bad - no confidence, terrible puck luck with respect to goal events off turnover
3rd quarter - both players played well but pucks weren't going in
4th quarter - Brodie injured, and we barely won a game after that injury even though Brodie was supposedly our worst player that year (he wasn't, even though it was his worst year).

You had me right here.

Seriously I do hope they gel tonight and maybe you're right and that they were finally onto something but circumstances prior to and after the Vegas game ran interference.

Given the GG system, this doesn't seem the least bit out of reach.

A comfortable regulation win would be nice. It's against a weak opponent. So it's going to be a several goals deficit loss.

I don't care how they score, and I don't care who scores, just come out with 2 points.

Oddly specific, but my recollection is that Brodie-Hamonic had a real tough time sorting out their d-zone coverage especially when Brodie followed a player behind the net in a slightly trailing position. Hamonic always thought he'd switch off and as he took a step to "help" they collectively left a guy open in front of our net or in the slot.

I'll be curious to see if that is still a thing tonight as I otherwise thought they were ok as a pairing.

God just win so this place stops being so ridiculously negative. We’re in the middle of an awesome playoff race with a decent cushion on 9th, a legit shot at 1st in the division and people are seriously checking out already? Give me a break.

Go Flames go!

Damn, I didn't even realize how bad Nashville/Chicago/Winnipeg are. Has the Pacific ever had both Wildcard teams since this format was introduced?

That decent cushion is effectively 3 points, as we are 4 points up but have played one more game.

Now I expect that we should easily make the playoffs since we have so many games against the 3 bottom feeders of the West. !8 games vs. LA, Anaheim and SJ has to help. I can remember when those games were super tough, especially the road trips. Times change and we need to take advantage when to do.

A win tonight should change the balance of the feelings around here.

As said before some fans just want to see some consistency and playoff success. After last year's a** whipping a lot of people's expectations are low.

With essentially the same top-6 (minus Backlund for Robinson, who's been good) for the past month or so, I don't see much changing tonight in terms of the team's overall play of late, which has not been inspiring confidence that this team.

Flames will get behind early by a goal or two, the lines will be changed and they will mount a comeback effort that may or may prove to be ultimately successful.
