I agree - he looked fine. I'm not sure what the beef is that some have with him, other than the puck hasn't been going in (like the rest of the team). But he's very good at both ends of the rink.

That said, he's still a rookie to me and, moreover, the youngest guy on the team. He'd be a target for shenanigans, and he can be prone to getting rocked.

I didn't see a D list but I could see Kylington coming out as well for the same reason, though I like his wheels more than I like Stone's size against the Oilers. And truthfully, I don't think Stone is more physical than Kylington (he's way more careful though).

Stone was out on the ice with Dube & Jankowski according to Wills. He sits tonight.

OK. Hopefully Kylington's jittery play last night has been worked out of his system. I really liked his play up to the break. Last night was a real struggle though.

I understand why Rinaldo is playing

I hope he exerts himself as necessary tonight

However, last couple of games he has been good for at least one prolonged shift followed by a shoot in from the wrong side of center leading to an icing...

if that happens tonight in a close game, and McDavid et al hop the boards I will be sad

in short I hope he just shows a bit more situational awareness

No doubt, but Jankowski and Reider are kind of a wash on that front.

It does seem like kind of a strange decision but maybe you get as many fresh bodies in as you can on a back to back.

It will be interesting (and impactful) how the referees decide to call the game tonight. Hopefully, they will call it closer to playoff standards than the early, regular season standard. Realistically, though, my guess is they will want to stamp out any goonerie by calling penalties on legitimate body checks early in the game. Hope I'm wrong.

Here’s what would be risky but possibly fun

Gaudreau-Monahan-Backlund
Tkachuk-Lindholm-Mangiapane
Lucic-Ryan-Rieder
Rinaldo-Bennett-Robinson

I’m not exactly hoping for this but that fourth line would be awesome to watch if they don’t mess up

Edmonton has last change tonight. I know Janko is low energy but I think he provides more defensive ability if caught out there against McDavid than a Rinaldo or a Buddy.

Game Plan:
1. Everyone hit Kassian every time he’s on the ice.
2. The following try to get Kassian to fight:
Lucic, Robinson, Rinaldo, Hamonic, Bennett, Tkachuk
3. Keep all Oilers distracted by the show

That is the other thing that made me laugh regarding Kassian having it out for Tkachuk in this first rematch. Oilers will be wanting to get the McDavid line away from Tkachuk and that line. So he gets the crowds all riled up, but chances are the Oilers will want to avoid that match-up, which will piss off the locals anytime Tkachuk goes over the boards after a whistle.

I think the reffing tonight is going to be pretty fair, probably going to be called a little tighter as everything is going to be scrutinized afterwards, which is fine IMO for this kind of game. Like you said, any goonery is going to be stamped out quick, but I don't think it'll be at the expense of legitimate body checks. It'll be waaaay too obvious if the refs start calling penalties on legitimate plays.

Game plan:
1) pot a few quickly in the first
2)pot a few more to start the second.
3) don't worry about the drama, trying to start fights in a blow out is pathetic.

Sorry, guess I needed the green font.

Still in my game plan we get to hear them whine for weeks maybe months. Yours they will be Kings of the world just a day later again. 😜

Hopefully the announcers will let us know the exact second McDavid jumps over boards to start every shift, plus let us know when he goes for a line change

Such low standards we have for the broadcast team. I'm hoping they can keep up with what he is doing on the bench during play.

NHL Radio personalities are giddy with anticipation over this game. Kouleas and Barnaby wouldn’t stop gushing about this game. All the guests today expect big things to go down in the game tonight.
