The thing with me is that, on one hand, Mangiapane have chemistry with Ryan, and playing them together makes sense. On the other hand, playing Mangiapane with Ryan will means either Mangi is playing on the 4th or Ryan is playing on the second? Neither is good, I'd want to see Mangi on top six role more.

I think the logic with the Monahan line is to get him to put his head down and go to work. If he just lurks around the slot waiting for a pass he's not going to touch the puck, so he'll need to work down low, protect the puck, and play with it on his stick to generate anything. I have a hunch that he'll struggle for a few more games, then score a couple and be right back with Gaudreau but more effective there for it.

ya, I think I like this the more I look at it. Now can you put Lucic with Chucky and Lindholm on the right side? Can you put Bennett there? Who goes there?

I'm not sure Lucic or Bennett are good fits for that 2nd line (Monahan). Something like this (based on the lineup posted by Derek Wills earlier):

Tkachuk - Lindholm - Lucic
Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Quine - Backlund - Frolik
Eat Bread - Ryan - Rieder

Maybe mix up Quine for Lucic or Bennett if someone needs a change or is making bad decisions/not playing well.

I know Lucic is likely not a fit up there, he isn't fast, nor could he really keep up with those two but I think with him and Chucky on the same line, teams wouldn't like that very much and then right after you have JG and SM coming on the ice, that would be a nice one-two punch. Then after that you have a very reliable third line with Backs and Frolik duo.

We really just need one of these rookies/prospects to start producing. We need someone to get hot other than our regular top 6 producers. I am sure every hockey fan says the same thing, but it is about time we find a diamond in the rough for our forward group. The top players on this team were drafted rather high (besides JG), or we traded for them and knew what we were getting.

Anyway, I like the change up, I hope Peters gives these new lines a look for longer than one game. We need more depth, and the chemistry won't build in just a few games together. We need more than that, can't keep defaulting back to the same damn lines other coaches have used or Peters from last year.

That being said, don't take this hurricanes team lightly, gotta get the pedal on the metal at puck drop tonight. Flames win 4-2. Gio, Bennett, Gaudreau and Chucky score tonight.

GFG

Flames are gonna get spanked in this one. In fact they way things are going this year they will be lucky to win one game on this road trip unless a goalie stands on his head...

I actually don't like how these lines have been formed. I'm all for splitting up Johnny and Sean, but to totally bone Sean on linemates does nothing but keep the 1st line top-heavy and expose our depth in lower lines. Why not:

Gaudreau - Lindholm - ?
Tkachuk - Monahan - ?
? - Backlund - Frolik
Lucic - Ryan - ?

Fill in the question marks however you see fit.
I was coming in to make the same post... hopefully, we see this soon!

not only that, but it's an indication we're still in dire need of another impactful winger on this team (and if they keep Lindholm at C, x2!)

I'm all for streching out the offense, especially now when there are struggles, lets see if we can find new chemistry.... but this team is in dire need of another game-breaker winger....

I have wanted to see tkachuk-lindholm-bennett since the beginning of last season so I hope we get there soon.

1 more rw is definitely necessary. Toffoli seems like the most likely candidate atm.
