ya, I think I like this the more I look at it. Now can you put Lucic with Chucky and Lindholm on the right side? Can you put Bennett there? Who goes there?
I'm not sure Lucic or Bennett are good fits for that 2nd line (Monahan). Something like this (based on the lineup posted by Derek Wills earlier):
Tkachuk - Lindholm - Lucic
Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Quine - Backlund - Frolik
Eat Bread - Ryan - Rieder
Maybe mix up Quine for Lucic or Bennett if someone needs a change or is making bad decisions/not playing well.
I know Lucic is likely not a fit up there, he isn't fast, nor could he really keep up with those two but I think with him and Chucky on the same line, teams wouldn't like that very much and then right after you have JG and SM coming on the ice, that would be a nice one-two punch. Then after that you have a very reliable third line with Backs and Frolik duo.
We really just need one of these rookies/prospects to start producing. We need someone to get hot other than our regular top 6 producers. I am sure every hockey fan says the same thing, but it is about time we find a diamond in the rough for our forward group. The top players on this team were drafted rather high (besides JG), or we traded for them and knew what we were getting.
Anyway, I like the change up, I hope Peters gives these new lines a look for longer than one game. We need more depth, and the chemistry won't build in just a few games together. We need more than that, can't keep defaulting back to the same damn lines other coaches have used or Peters from last year.
That being said, don't take this hurricanes team lightly, gotta get the pedal on the metal at puck drop tonight. Flames win 4-2. Gio, Bennett, Gaudreau and Chucky score tonight.
