Everyone knows the Flames' season actually begins game #2, there's 10 years of proof

Yup. But hey, maybe the Avs will be tired from their playoff run and we'll be rested and fresh!

Or maybe we can sit back and let the Avs wear themselves out scoring on us over and over again and then we counterattack when they least expect it!

Obviously a must win, the biggest two points of the season thus far.

That said, if it’s regular season rules and regular season officiating, I like our chances. 3-2 Flames. GFG!

They did it in a five game playoff series, but other than that Colorado's record in games v. Calgary has been decidedly unimpressive.

I expect that the Flames are not so eager to roll over and die as you are.

You are right but I guess the first thing that comes to mind is the LAST 4 games and how badly they dominated those games.

11-1 Avs.

I'm just happy that the Flames aren't going to be embarrassed by the Oilers or Canucks this time.

Just in the playoffs last year.

In regular season last year we were 3-1 against Colorado. Over the past 3 years combined we were 8-2 against Colorado.

Flames not getting any respect on the Avs subforum on that other site. Would love to make them eat crow. Funny how five playoff games can completely change the narrative.

As everybody has already said, game#1 is almost a guaranteed loss. Oh well. I will be tuning in from my couch in Vancouver.

People are always looking at the past as a determinant/predictor for the present. But it's a new season, and I maintain that the Flames going into the playoffs cold had a lot to do with what we saw, seeing as they handily beat the Avs in the season series prior to that. I don't know what we'll see tonight, but it'll be interesting and I'd rather leave it at that.

Anything can happen, and I don't believe this current group of Flames have filled out their potential yet either. One series isn't the be all end all for what a team can accomplish. If it was, then the Caps should have thrown in the towel after those numerous first round exits, a number of them to Pittsburgh. But no, they went on to win a championship, taking down the Pens along the way. This Flames core is fully capable of doing something similar in this window. If I were the players I would throw April in the trash and start completely fresh here, only using it for added motivation, and I hope a good number of fans take the same approach.

f#### forget last spring. It's a new season. With the skill, depth, youth we have and Rittich who is on the rise, I think anything is possible.

We have all the skill.....just not the work ethic.

Bill Peters

So....lets see if our forwards can backcheck snd slow down the avs thru thr neutral zone.....the avs i predict will be the team on top of the conference all year.
Id rather be looking down than up at them in the standings.

The Kadris and Zadorovs of the avs i hope dont do the avs any favors and tske dumb penalties....i wanna see our power play (i know) get to work early and actually score and be a threat.

Dammit lets be competitive if we cant win and not let them in our heads.
I hope Peters message early is work work work.

GFG
