Vancouver has vastly improved, and I really like Markstrom. You have another year maturity on some great young players plus a couple solid additions this offseason- they will be better. Open to switching Calgary and Vancouver too, possibly...
Calgary is still a good team but I have trouble seeing Giordano repeat that fantastic year. Obviously could be wrong. Hanifin doesn’t seem like he’s emerging as quickly as we all hoped. I like Hamonic though and I like the studly Anderson. Woulda liked to see Valimaki so a shame he’s injured. Meanwhile Calgary is slightly worse in goal, and I don’t think Rittich can carry a full season. Up front they are good, but not as good as they think they are. I think the playoffs last year was a really big problem for this team as they were exposed by speed, grit and desire. That’s one issue with the Flames, desire. Hopefully Tkachuk comes back to form as I didn’t like how he seemed like on the second half of the year he kinda started playing it safe a bit for the contract. Not enough grit or that annoying factor seemed to be easing unlike in his first couple years. Again still a good team and will be fighting for a playoff spot but I expect some of these amazing career seasons these guys had last year to take a step back. A suspect a huge blow to the confidence, that playoff series was.
San Jose will be worse, they lost Pavelski and I don’t really think Couture is as good as he once was. Same with people like Thornton, Hertl even or Kane. Jones is good and Burns is great. Dunno, at some point these guys have to slide haha
Then the rest it’s a bit who cares, don’t expect much from any of the other teams.
