If they get into trouble they will be forced to play the better goalie. Brossiot could be their story this year.

They're a young team and now even younger. That means more losses. They also will have an issue with Helley, and, until Brossoit is given a chacne to be the starter, if ever, the team will suffer. And the Central is very hard

Because these are their seven defenders at the NHL level:
Josh Morrissey
Dmitri Kulikov
Neal Pionk
Sami Niku
Tucker Poolman
Nathan Beaulieu
Anthony Bitetto
They've lost Byfuglien (for now), Myers, Trouba, and Chiarot, and they added Bitetto to replace them.

Also even if they do sogn Laine and Connor within the next couple of weeks, missing camp makes it really difficult to get up to speed. Remeber the Johnny holdout...

Oilers - Those three D pairings with those two goalies? "Debacle of epic proportions" is what I said in summer and I'll stand by it, given how their AHL hopefuls (their only hope for improvement) have underwhelmed. At least OTT will have skilled youthful enthusiasm.

Montreal has a terrible roster, but I never know what to expect with them. Price is sometimes invincible, but he's often not.
They have some of the worst forward depth in the league IMO.
On paper it looks like the Jets are still a lot better, despite the bad defense. But I don't know. Vancouver I see as a 88-93 point team.

I feel like the Flames and Leafs are the only 2 legit teams and either could be first place. I am not sold on the Habs and think they are at best a wildcard team.
I think the Canucks have a chance to be much improved. Adding Myers and Hughes to the back end Miller and Ferland up front they could push for a playoff spot.
I think the Habs are a bubble team at best and a bottom feeder at the worst.
The Jets are also looking like a bubble team but a lot depends on their RFA’s
The Oilers are a pretty bad roster with a couple of elite players. I think they are still a bottom 10 team in the league.
The Sens are pretty bad but st least have hope to sell their fans with some exciting young players and all their picks.
1. Calgary
2. Toronto
3. Winnipeg
4. Vancouver
5. Montreal
6. Edmonton
7. Ottawa
I still read a few haters for the Flames out there staring last year was a one off. I understand it as the team has been up and down for the last 5-6 years. I personally think they have matured and will have a chip on their shoulder to be a top team in the league again.

When I was a young person and asked my peer what a rhetorical question was I was given the "who cares? " as an example. I also share some of that posters apathy for where teams land in the East.
In the west I think Winnipeg still tops Vancouver, with the Alberta teams being the obvious bookends.

Vancouver - They surprise by being better then they thought they would be, however they still manage to miss the playoffs as they get falconed punched out of the Wildcard by the Central Division teams.
Montreal - We see the decline of as they try to keep Price's groin together with bailing wire and gorilla glue but it falls apart in game 40 with a sound described as the explosion heard around the world.
Winnipeg - As has been said, its a team in turmoil. But they have a miraculous near comeback to the playoffs in the second half when a 500 pound Buff retuns to the team and takes his spot as the number one goaltender and the Jets don't allow more then 15 goals in the last 20 games.
Ottawa - Dubbed the miracle on ice because its amazing that this collection of kids and rejects can strap on their velcro skates let alone shuffle around the ice pushing chairs, but they manage to win some games. Just not a lot of games
Edmonton - Half way through the year we hear Gary Bettman yell out "Not again, they're not getting another number one pick" he calls a press conference and announces the Climate change draft lottery rule which states that teams that are named after things harmful to global warming like Oilers and Jets shall not be allowed to draft number 1 ever again. Flames are the exeption as a salute to Og the hockey playing cave man who discovered fire.
